That's funny I was reading the same article this morning. When I saw it I immediately thought it looks like FIRST on steroids. It became clear though that it is something very different, but still super cool. Here is the article about the competition, it's pretty long but really interesting.

I do think it would be an interesting addition to the strategy of the games if there was the ability to shoot and disable a robot even for 10 seconds in a match. However I can see where shooting at each other does not uphold the finest qualities of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition (or what ever that word is).

Very cool. I like the multiple robots on the field and I really love them using the camera to drive the robots. I like the cross marketing, come drive a robo in a maze and the controller is the DJI joystick.

Big bet by DJI, it will be interesting to see how it plays out for them in the next few years.

I doubt that they're specifically from AM, since you can easily find generic versions of them.

I'm talking about the hole pattern it looks very close to 1.875inch if they are 200mm tyres.

Most generic 200x50 pneumatic wheel assemblies have 5 bolts

One thing I rather like is the idea of having one robot that is fully autonomous. It's a nice middle ground between keeping the human element a part of the game, maintaining entertainment, while giving teams the opportunity to significantly improve their capabilities through some innovation in software.

I think it would be cool if something similar was implemented in FRC, possibly some non roborio based "minibot" that one member of an alliance could decide to deploy, similar to how the kinect was handled in 2012.

Of course the implementation would be awful to deal with I imagine, since it would need to be simple enough not to put strain on teams to buy more components such as an expensive roborio while still being integrated into the FMS.

It's an interesting idea and it seems to work for robomasters since I actually rather enjoyed watching the 2016 finals. The devil is in the details.
