Dream Alliance of Stronghold

What would be the best alliance for playing a game of Stronghold?
(Outrageous match scenario Optional)

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

IMO it'd have to be 971/195/254.

Together, they have a shot at pulling off 2 2-ball autos, all 3 can scale, and teleop high goal scoring is absolutely unreasonable.

EDIT: Other Honorable Mentions that could potentially be on the dream team:
-1678
-148
-2056

EDIT II: Obviously this alliance is optimized for triple offense strategy. If your idea of an ideal alliance is 2offense+1defense then that would obviously change things. Off the top of my head I can't single out a definitive #1 defense bot this season.

By IRI rules, these robots could have 3 2-ball autos ;)
I agree this may be the single highest scoring combination.

I personally would take 2056 over 195. Sacrifice the 2 ball for basically a bot that is very hard to defend/stop. But 195 is definitely on the list. Another team that I think deserves an honorable mention in regards to defense is 1405.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

1678, 254, 971

With all three bots doing a 2 ball auto. (Low bar, rockwall/rough terrain, moat).

And all three bots can hang (if 254's hanger doesn't break)

971 and 1678 are phenomenal shooters, with 254 close behind.

I could easily see these teams having a over 300 point match.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

971 had the most proven 2-ball auto during the competition season, so they definitely get a spot on the dream team.

The dream team would certainly not include a bot that specialized in defense during the season. Even if the dream team opted for a defensive strategy, one of their great offensive robots would easily fill this role.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

1519, 1619, and 1719.

Another great alliance would be 2451 (PWNAGE), 4060 (SWAG), and 2202 (BEAST).

I'll think of more. Don't worry.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

If we're going with 2 offensive bots and 1 defensive bot, it would have to be 971, 148, and 4607.

971 and 148 are both lightning fast shooters, have flawless autonomous and are nearly unblockable. They both also have really good drive teams and super consistent and fast climbers. 971 also has the most consistent 2 ball auto I've seen. These two robots alone could easily score 20+ boulders in the high goal.

On the defensive side, 4607 would be the best choice. I may be a little bias here, but 4607 was easily the best defensive bot this year. They pretty much shut down 5172 in this match. Their robot is fast, robust, and has strong pushing power. Their drivers know the best way to play defense. They know where to go, when to do it, and how to do it. 4607 also can score a few boulders in the low goal, and they have a consistent climber.

I'm pretty sure this alliance would beat out any other potential "dream team", even those with 3 offensive bots. Plus it's also the only "dream team" alliance that actually realistically could have existed. I considered putting 5172, 254, and 2056 in over 148. But 148 has a better climber than 2056, more robust and consistent than 254, and can handle defense better than 5172.

Once I saw this alliance I was like this is the team that'll win it all. Was surprised to see that not occur. But the opposing alliance was pretty good too.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

2056 148 1678
1678 254 971
1241 1678 33
971 254 148
118 987 254
148 118 1254

148 233 and 33 have best defense physicallyproven tbh the best defense comes from powerhouses

my point is any combo of 2056 971 1678 254 148 118 33 1241 987 is how it should go down cause these teams used other routes than low bar, good with or without defense and very adaptable on the fly and have to have 2016 season drive teams cause they know their robots best

Any combination of 254, 1678, 971, 148, 2056, and 195. Arguably, you could include 987, 330, and 1241 as well.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

A stronghold dream alliance would have to:
Have three robots with high throughput in the high goal, preferably difficult to defend and shooting from different locations.
Have three climbs that can climb simultaneously.
Have as many balls in autonomous as possible without requiring the same field space.

971, 254, 1678, and 195 were the most proven 2 ball autonomous modes, but 1678, 971 and 195 all usually use the low bar. In addition, 195 and 254 have low release points, and defense can impact their scoring more than, for example, 971 and 1678. Additionally, how much these team's climbs would interfere with one another is a question. As a result, I might substitute 148 in for one of the three teams instead.

Something like 971-254-148 or 971-1678-148. But really you could argue for any combination of these teams.

Most two ball auto teams "usually" run it under the low bar, that's just the nature of the in season rules on two ball autos and consistency.

If you sub out a 2 ball auto for a third hang, you're getting the same result in terms of points on the board. So the best possible alliance needs more than 1 2 ball auto I think; a third hang only if possible.

I think you have to include 195, because their scoring volume at their peak and the consistency of their two ball are IMO the best in the world. They can have the low bar.

971 I believe has 2 ball options from other than the low bar, so they can be robot 2. They do plenty of secret passage sniping and crossing defenses to score. Perhaps 254 is a better choice here with more 2 ball options, but I think 971 at their peak could potentially outdo them.

From there you just want a robot with absolute consistency and high goal scoring. I think 2056 can manage that ever so slightly better than 148 can, but it's close enough that I'd need to look at real data to tell the difference.

It's more than possible that 971 and 195 would have such good ball control and quickness in scoring, that their scoring would be ball-limited and not robot-limited, in which case a third compatible hang is more important than absolute ball scoring ability, so that brings you back to 148 as the best team that does that style of hang. 330 is also an option, but their 1 ball auto isn't as consistent.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

2056, 118, and 971

70 point auto
Compatible, fast triple scale
Flexible shooting positions
Can shoot over blockers or at batter

Yes but 1678 never successfully hung while at champs.

Uhhhh...that's not true. They did miss a couple late on Einstein but they did hang plenty of times.

I was going on about palindrome alliances at Chezy Champs for quite a long time. It's nice to know I'm not the only one into this.

Other alliances from common number series / number patterns:

Perfect cubes:
27, 125, 343

Palindrome alliance:
971 696 179

Palindrome teams:
343 545 696

Fibonacci sequence:
233, 610, 987

Hexagonal numbers:
120, 190, 2415

Emirps:
359, 971, 1619

Semiprimes:
254, 1678, 1114

The New England dream alliance would be 195, 1768, 1519, and 125. Of course this would be a champs style alliance because of the 4 teams but whatever.

Any NE alliance needs to have 133 in it. 2nd best team behind 195 in the region.

It might have been closer than you think. 2502 had a really rough time at 10K this year, we had them ranked 23rd according to our scouting data until their last match.

If that match hadn't happened, we and many others likely wouldn't have selected them even if they had been available on the back end of the draft.

Pro tip: Working for one match isn't ideal for getting picked high.

Re: Dream Alliance of Stronghold

Team 1986- Shooting high goal cycles
Team 2056- Shooting high goal cycles
Team 4828- defensive blocking capability (with addition of climbing capabilities)

Would be a shutout and a triple climb
