Looking for new team

Does anyone know of an FRC team in the Charleston, SC area that may be looking for volunteers? I am currently stationed in Goose Creek and am looking for a team to volunteer with. I spent 4 years on team 2594 in Idaho during high school and want to continue my involvement with FIRST.

Contact the local FIRST Senior Mentor. They should be able to pair you up with a team.

No FSM in South Carolina :( but any of the FSMs in neighboring states might be able to help you out!

The teams that I know are base around the Charleston area are 342, 3489, 4243, 4533, 4748. A quick search online should give you their contact info.

Try sending a PM to BillFred. I think he knows the lay of the land in SC.

I just used this map. I figure it's a good starting point.

3490 is probably on the hottest streak, in terms of robot. 342, 3489, 4083, and 4533 are a notch down in robot, though they're all great teams. (342 was the longtime powerhouse in awards, but lately that momentum has shifted to 3489.) 4243 and 4748 bring up the rear on both fronts.

3490 is your best as far as location, we are in Cane Bay HS about 10-15 miles from the NWS easy commute we meet on Tuesday evenings from 4-6 .

Please volunteer with a rookie team. Here are a few reasons why:

1. They (typically) do not know what is going on with the deadlines, ordering, etc. The teachers/mentors will be grateful to have someone who does.

2. When you work with a rookie team, you do not have to integrate yourself into an existing system. You get to help design/build the team system.

3. Veterans most likely have the resources they need unless they specifically ask for a new mentor.
