Paper Airplanes Just a Thought

They might be annoying but here is why I think FIRST lets this happen at championships. It is science and creativity all in one.

Just a thought.

I remember taking an aerospace engineering class in high school and building planes from wood and launching them down the hallway*, it was a great experience and I hope more people get to do it. But that experience came after classroom learning, we studied how the wings of a plane interact with the air and how that is effected by the shape of the wing. We also did not do it while sitting in a speech by the principal to the entire school.

*Fun fact, the best distance was achieved by a plane that was just a stick of glue destined for a glue gun.

Of course, it is so obvious, Steamworks end game flying object - Bot will have to launch paper airplane of team's creation from far end of field back to driver's station. Genius!

I am taking Aerospace Engineering this year in high school, it is so much fun and a great learning experience. We just finished up our planes made of wood

Steam powered paper airplanes? Sounds perfectly feasible to me.

I'm glad that the culture is changing for them to stop. There is a point where it is just rude.

FIRST should just put the audience in a big net.
Fix all the projectiles, paper and frisbee ;).
