Fav. Geek Movie

Excluding the Star Wars and Star Trek Series what is your fav. geeky movie!?

Mine is Office Space

AdamT 17-11-2002 22:39

I wouldn't call Office Space a geeky movie....

How about Revenge of the Nerds I-IV?

or

Hackers

I didnt like hackers (Although I have it on DVD) it gave hackers a bad rap and it wasnt realistic

evulish 17-11-2002 22:47

Geek movies, IMO, include cult classics...so, of course, the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Who cares? It was entertaining and they make jokes only techies would find funny. Plus Angelina Jolie doesn't have poofy lips in it!

evulish 17-11-2002 22:57

You have to love the viruses in Hackers. :P

Well, if Rocky Horror is a geek movie, then I have to say it's my favorite geek movie. I actually bought a copy so I could watch it without all of the audience participation, and I still can't say which way I like it best!

THEY'VE RELEASED PACMAN INTO OUR MAINFRAME! RUN!

The first movie that comes to my mind is Blade Runner, but I'm sure I'll think of some more...

evulish 17-11-2002 23:35

Heh. Too bad 'hacking' isn't like swordfish. The only nakedness 'hacker's get is usually from the internet...and it's not Halle Barry or whoever that is/was :P

(I use the term 'hacker' loosely...since they aren't really hackers...but rather script/packet kiddies or crackers )

Cube

(Cube's getting a sequal too soon :DD)

AdamT 19-11-2002 22:35

I forgot some of the classics:

Short Circut
Short Circut 2
Batteries Not Included

I love those three movies!

IsabelRinging 19-11-2002 23:40

Antitrust.

Only because no one has mentioned it yet.

George1902 20-11-2002 01:28

i'm shocked and amazed that this thread has gone this long without a Monty Python reference...

of course anything by Monty Python rules, but Holy Grail just rules above all... and everyone on our team is familiar with Monty Python humor being that our team is SPAM...

isabel... i'm disappointed in you =-[

October Sky

dixonij 20-11-2002 17:02

"What is the air speed velocity of a swallow?"
"would that be a European swallow or African swallow?"
"Well i dont know...aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!"

MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL RULES ABOVE ALL OTHERS... and some of the skits they did are hilarous also.

Pffft. SPAM references aside, I don't see how Monty Python qualifies as a geek movie.

In that case, I'll have to change my vote to Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.

please please please tell me there's someone else here that found that movie hysterical.

Ryan Dognaux 22-11-2002 21:57

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie

Quite Hillarious, if you've seen the show it's 10 times funnier than most of the episodes, I recommend buying it now. Right now! Go buy it!

Of course, my favorite part was the poor poodles being taught how to fly... no matter how many times I see it, that scene cracks me up!

Prolly cube and all of the mad max movies

Amanda Aldridge 29-11-2002 16:52

hmmmm.....

well, i must say that Antitrust is excellent. I've seen it, oh, i don't know, about a thousand times. I have to thank MikeFromTeam71 for making me watch it the first time. Plus, Ryan Phillipe (sp?) is hott!

Also, Ocean's 11. How many times did we watch that last year guys?

And finally (even though it's not a "geek movie" per se), FOOTLOOSE!!! This, of course from a member of the team that parked a van in a park one night and danced to crazy eighties music on top of the van!!!!!! We love eighties music!! (or at least some of us do ;-)

my $0.02
:D

The guy who was tossing those dogs out the window actualy was hit by a drunk driver on his way to the studio. There was going to be another part with him in it, later in the movie..... :(

Uh...yeah. I'd put in a funny quote, but I'm not sure what I could post and not be kicked off the forum.

"Ludicrous speed...GO!"

The "official" team 31 movie...

I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!

It’s hilarious but if I have to see it one more time I'm going to go crazy.

oooo, let me tell you,
last year, when we were waiting to go on the space mt. ride,
i stated such a hysteria w/ the rest of my team.
see, i started quoting the movie, and we all continued,
myself, this other girl, and a bunch of guys in a looong slow line,
and we pract. 'acted' out 3/4 of the movie right there and then.
it was soo much fun.

and office space, maaan, I got the samir accent down!
"you are a very bad person, peter"
I was gonna dress up like him for a skit and do the whole brake dancing thing, but i don't know if i could pass off as a bold guy w/ fiscal hair...

As for the rest of the movies...
pi
hackers
revenge of the nerds
war games..
Etc.
all wonderful.. I've prob. not seen maybe 3 of the ones listed so far,
and I would put my input of some other movies,
but I'm not really sure what a 'geek movie' is...

Amanda M 06-12-2002 19:48

I know this is kinda late, but, I am going to put my 2 cents in anyhow. ^-^ I would have to say, that even though I am not shure what a "geek" movie is, we need to put Memento on the list, just cause you HAVE to be a geek to understand it and WANT to understand it!
