Ordering from Studica
For any Canadian teams ordering Andymark parts from Studica, let me share my 2 experiences so there are no surprises in January when teams need stuff to arrive quickly and painlessly.
1. Check prices. On my first order, I paid way too much due to some issue with the currency conversion. 2. Web ordering is not fast and it's not automated. For whatever reason, Studica needs to manually process each web order. On my second order, it took them about 30 hours to get around to sending me an order confirmation that indicated the parts were back ordered and would take 1-2 weeks to obtain. This is because they don't have the Andymark products entered into their system so the order gets a "back ordered" status put on it. I replied to their email with "Please Cancel" and then ordered the items directly from Andymark. 24 hours after that I got an email indicating that my Studica Order had shipped??? Turns out they did not receive (or process) my emailed cancel request. I recommended that some streamlining of their system really needs to be done before January when robot teams using their company for Andymark orders will want stuff fast and with a minimum amount of confusion. Apparently, the answer is to use the phone, don't web order. If you call them, they will be able to check stock and I would assume they can take your order over the phone. I think it's great that some attempts are being made by Andymark to try to be able to ship items to their Canadian customers with the same speed and efficiency that we can get Vex and McMaster-Carr parts. Until Studica makes some substantial changes to their order processing system, it's best to call them for your orders. |
Re: Ordering from Studica
I had a similar experience. I chalked it up to "pre-season laxness", but I will be careful to follow up any orders we place in build season by phone.
