Hello CD,
KING TeC's student captains and board of directors are currently meeting weekly to work out all of the details on the Minne Mini, however, here are some details we have currently.
More to come and stay tuned! |

At MRI, they did 4 team alliances and none of the alliance captains seemed to realize that they needed to communicate to the folks managing field which 3 of the 4 teams would be playing and at which drivers station before each match. My vote is for 3 plus backups, but if the event organizers want 4 I'll be happy to set it up that way. |

Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
Hello everyone,
I just came out of a planning meeting and we found the miscommunication about alliance selection. Yes, in the email it said "1 > 4; 4 > 1; 1 > 4" for the selection process. It is meant to be 1>4; 4>1. Again to clarify, in eliminations there will be 4 alliances of 3 teams. Each alliance will have a backup/substitution coupon for the next highest seed, just like standard regional play. I hope this clears up some of the confusion. |

Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
It looks like 2531 was dropped and 4239 was added to the team list.
|
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
Team 3275 is going to have to drop. Our school administration has deemed it unsafe to travel. I would expect other teams from Northern MN will be doing the same. :(
|
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
It looks like we, team 876, will be unable to get there due to the winter storm between Fargo and Minneapolis.🙁
|
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
Thank you, Minnesota's weather pattern:'(
To everyone not dropping out for weather, stay safe during travel! |
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
Big Lake (9607) and Becker (4607) will be there. However, due to early dismissal today, we will not have the much needed time to help Big Lake put the final touches on GreenHorns Rivvet. So tomorrow we will need some help straight away when we get there.
Safe travels everyone - it is already getting messy out here by St Cloud! |
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
If anyone from Prior Lake is looking at this thread, an FYI - the person that's in charge of managing the waitlist for the event has a full voicemail box. It's hard to get in touch with our status when we can't leave her a message!

Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
Thanks to all that made this possible - especially 2169; you guys put on one heck of a show today!
Thanks to the NDSU Bison Robotics team for allowing Big Lake to use the 2016 GreenHorns Ri3d robot, Rivvet. With out a doubt the Big Lake team walked out of the school today fired up with their new hardware and a great appreciation for how FRC is supposed to run! They were beaming from ear to ear and could not stop talking about how they will adopt/adapt a lot of the team strategies that they learned today. A special thank you to all of the teams in attendance for helping out this young team. There were times I walked over to Big Lake's pit and there were 4-5 teams helping them out! The students were in doubt heading into the competition, but as they found more and more success, you could see their confidence build. I have never been more proud of MN FRC teams than I am today. All around, this was one of the greatest things I have seen at a FRC competition. Thank you all again. |
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
Thanks to all the volunteers, as well as 2169, for putting on this event. Team 3184 had a great time and got tons of drive practice in for our new members.
I think this is the first year that we've actually used our competition bot- in 2013, 14, and 15, we made an entirely new robot for the event. Due to circumstance, not preference, I assure you. |
Re: Minne Mini-Regional 2016
4536 had a really great time at Minne Mini. I wish our alliance could have put up a better fight in the finals, but 2052, 2512, and 2509 were all very deserving of their win. Thank you to 2169 for hosting. Events like these are really important for the community.
For future reference, I believe 9 qualification matches per team to be a bit too high for a one-day, 32 team off-season event. I'm usually the one wishing that we got more matches, but 9 was a little excessive. There is really just no room for unexpected delays when that many matches are packed in. I did really appreciate the static defenses during quals though as this allowed for shorter cycle times and more matches. |
