We're the only christians on my block, even though we don't go to church...the x-mas lights don't go up till after thanksgiving

Back in 1998 we strung some Christmas lights around the living room, and they are still up there, does that count? And I think a little straw reindeer has been sitting on top of the TV for two years.

Sadly, I don't think I'm going to get a tree up this year. We have to have the ceiling replaced in the living room and they're supposed to start the first week in December and it's going to be too hectic. Oh well, at least February won't roll around to find a partially denuded tree in my living room.

Better yet, my psycho neighbor has had orange and purple halloween lights out since October of 2000!!

Also, there is a house that I see out the window when Im in Chemistry class that has a giant plastic pumpkin still on display ontop of their roof...its really quite amusing, whenever I go into Chemistry I look to see if that pumpkin is still there.

Correction: There is a Jack'o'lantern on the roof

The habit I have noticed in New Hampshire is to get a nice fresh wreath every December and hang it on the front door until you can get a new one the next year. There are rotting christmas wreaths and lights left up all year long as a standard practice.

I'll be in Utah for most of December this year in a conservative Christian town. While I am currently a practicing Christian, I think it might be fun to get back to my (suspected) roots a little and put a menorah up in the front window just to cheese off the neighbors.

Now, my parents can't decorate the outside of their house (bad neighborhood, things get stolen or just destroyed), but I don't know of anyone who can beat the inside of their house! Picture over 5,000 Santa Claus figurines. And that doesn't include snowmen, reindeers, and all of the other Christmas things... I don't believe either of my parents know the meaning of the word "moderation".

Second most important lesson I've learned: never tell my parents that I like something or I'll end up with over 500 of them (526 to be exact).

oooooh i actually created a popular post on CD!!! *me so happy*

anyway, i have 2 of 4 trees up inside my house. my exterior is about 75% complete and the interior is about 30% complete.

the good thing about being jewish is that i don't have to worry at all about christmas decorations. all i do is get out the little electric chanukiah (Miss Tree, it's not a menorah ;), and yes, my spelling is horrible) and put it up in the window, then i remind my parents to get chanukah candles, then we pig out on potato lakaes and apple sauce :D. simplicity is the key here.

/me can't wait till Nov 30th, and after that Jan 4th :)
