Sorry about that......I wasn't raised in the tradition. I only just started to put two and two together with the family history research that's been done on the German's from Russia line.
Fortunately I have a step-nephew that is Jewish and he can help me navigate this whole new world I've discovered.
I like learning about new things and different cultures. New points of view and attitudes toward things can be very stimulating.

Hey, While we're on the subject of the winter holidays, I would like to dole out some motherly advice.

I know most of you are still a bit young. But this could help a lot.

If you ever get married (and you're both celebrating in the Chrisatian tradition) have a written agreement/ pre nup. that works out a definite schedule for which parent or in-law's house you will be going to on certain years or at certain times during the Holiday.
It will save a lot of headaches and arguments down the road and the holiday will be much more pleasant for everyone.
