We're the only christians on my block, even though we don't go to church...the x-mas lights don't go up till after thanksgiving

Sadly, I don't think I'm going to get a tree up this year. We have to have the ceiling replaced in the living room and they're supposed to start the first week in December and it's going to be too hectic. Oh well, at least February won't roll around to find a partially denuded tree in my living room. Also, there is a house that I see out the window when Im in Chemistry class that has a giant plastic pumpkin still on display ontop of their roof...its really quite amusing, whenever I go into Chemistry I look to see if that pumpkin is still there. |
yah but pumpkins can be 4 thanksgiving too

The habit I have noticed in New Hampshire is to get a nice fresh wreath every December and hang it on the front door until you can get a new one the next year. There are rotting christmas wreaths and lights left up all year long as a standard practice.
I'll be in Utah for most of December this year in a conservative Christian town. While I am currently a practicing Christian, I think it might be fun to get back to my (suspected) roots a little and put a menorah up in the front window just to cheese off the neighbors. |
HAHAHA, I'm cracking up DJ! :D

one of these days ill post a pic of my house. we add a lot of new stuff each year. at the current rate of expansion, our house will look like the Griswalds (National Lampoon Vacation movies) in 2009.

MissInformation <============> Second most important lesson I've learned: never tell my parents that I like something or I'll end up with over 500 of them (526 to be exact). |
oooooh i actually created a popular post on CD!!! *me so happy*
anyway, i have 2 of 4 trees up inside my house. my exterior is about 75% complete and the interior is about 30% complete. |
the good thing about being jewish is that i don't have to worry at all about christmas decorations. all i do is get out the little electric chanukiah (Miss Tree, it's not a menorah ;), and yes, my spelling is horrible) and put it up in the window, then i remind my parents to get chanukah candles, then we pig out on potato lakaes and apple sauce :D. simplicity is the key here.
/me can't wait till Nov 30th, and after that Jan 4th :) |

Fortunately I have a step-nephew that is Jewish and he can help me navigate this whole new world I've discovered. I like learning about new things and different cultures. New points of view and attitudes toward things can be very stimulating. |
id like to know who answered my poll "Christmas, whats christmas?" not mad at you, just wanted to know who thought they were funny and answered that question.

Hey, While we're on the subject of the winter holidays, I would like to dole out some motherly advice.
I know most of you are still a bit young. But this could help a lot. If you ever get married (and you're both celebrating in the Chrisatian tradition) have a written agreement/ pre nup. that works out a definite schedule for which parent or in-law's house you will be going to on certain years or at certain times during the Holiday. It will save a lot of headaches and arguments down the road and the holiday will be much more pleasant for everyone. |
house is about 60% complete. dad getting agitated because im "farting around" and not doing anything
