Quick plug for my school: I know most people don't think of Yale as a STEM school, but there's an awesome FIRST community that I was surprised/happy to find once I got here, and I hear great stuff from my engineering major friends. (I'm probably a CS/psych major and it's fantastic so far.)

Happy to talk if any of you are thinking about applying to Yale!

Re: Class of 2017, where are you applying?

I'm happy to see my school on quite a few lists!

I am a sophomore studying computer science and mathematics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I am also a college mentor for FRC 2791, Shaker Robotics, a fifteen minute drive from the school.

FIRST alumni are everywhere here and it shows in RPI's FIRST scene. Students mentor 20, 2791, and 3044. Off the top of my head, I know RPI hosts and supplies volunteers for the Tech Valley Regional, an FLL tournament, an FRC Kickoff, and an FTC Kickoff. In addition, there are plenty of interesting non-FIRST activities out there for those looking to branch out, both technical and non-technical in nature.

If anyone has any questions about RPI, feel free to PM me.

Re: Class of 2017, where are you applying?

I am planning on applying to:
University of Waterloo - Mechatronics Engineering, with Electrical and Mechanical as 2nd and 3rd choices (still somewhat undecided on those alternates though)
McMaster University - Engineering
University of Western Ontario - Engineering

For Mac and Western, I plan on applying to Mechatronics in 2nd year, but possibly Software, Electrical, or Mechanical (since they both have general first years).

Actually, applications just opened and close Jan 11, so I better get to it.
