Really interesting to hear about Archimedes qualifications from another perspective. That was my freshman year on 1058 and we had an interesting time on that division. We had mysterious communications issues in 4 of our matches, to which FIRST gave us a whole new set of electronics and took us out on the field after matches on Friday and had every FTA they could find looking at our robot. They found no cause, and then we proceeded to work on Saturday for no reason.

I remember someone on 2826 saying that we were on their picklist in some capacity despite our issues, I've always wondered if we were actually that close (Tyler mentioned their pick was between two teams, but no idea if that was us). I do know we were supposed to co-op balance with them in our last match but our partner got in the way and we always assumed that killed any chance of getting picked by them.

I also never realized that the rankings changed at the end of quals due to the co-op point issue, that's such an odd thing to occur.

Thanks for sharing it was neat to reminisce about my first championship experience since I got to watch it all close up.

I don't remeber the other team we were looking at. But we were debating going for triple balance or more scoring. So the other robot wasn't a wide bot so we wouldn't have been able to triple with it.

I can say that no team was written off for not coop balancing. As it was a perfectly valid strategy to refuse.

Thank you to everyone who showed up last night! We had the largest turnout ever for an off-season show and I hope we did not disappoint. Part 2 of the 2012 champs story will continue on Monday 12/12 so stay tuned for this and other FUN announcements.

SO CLOSE to pulling off the impossible-upset... had we eliminated 67 and 2826 in Match #2 I think someone would have written a song about our alliance... LOL ;-)
