(Re)Starting a FIRST Scholarship at the University of Michigan
 

Hello CDenizens!

As you're likely aware, dozens of colleges around the country offer scholarships specifically to FIRST students. Although the University of Michigan offered a FIRST scholarship in the past, it does not anymore. The FIRST Alumni and Mentors Network at Michigan would like to start it back up again, and we need your help.

On Tuesday, November 29th, U of M is hosting Giving Blueday, an online and on-campus celebration of giving and charity. Our goal is to raise $5000 for the FAMNM - FIRST Scholarship. We are creating this scholarship in order to help more bright and determined individuals make attending Michigan a reality, regardless of their financial situation. The FIRST Alumni and Mentor Network at Michigan (FAMNM) is a student organization whose mission is to encourage K-12 students to pursue STEM, business and community outreach opportunities, support Michigan based FIRST mentors and volunteers, and to develop a professional network of FIRST supporters at the University of Michigan. Our organization supports many FIRST teams in the Ann Arbor area, from FLL to FRC. We also host workshops and one of the largest kickoffs in the country.

P.P.S. Necessary disclaimer: Gifts may be used to support an endowed scholarship fund or an expendable scholarship fund, as the University determines in its discretion. If an endowed fund is established, distributions from the Fund shall be made in accordance with the University’s then existing endowment distribution policy. If there are surplus distributions at the end of any fiscal year, the University may, in its discretion, hold them to be spent later for the above purposes or add them to the principal of the Fund for investment.
