Don't think this could have come out any later :P

This looks like a great one-stop solution for most all shifting drivetrains. So grateful for all the great new COTS drive gearboxes this year. Looking forward to inevitably using this considering how many options it provides.

So did I interpret this correctly?

13) Using existing mounting plate holes, it can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2"x1" box tube frame.

It's a drop in for the kit of parts chassis?

52 of those stupid CNC's and all I get to use them for is making cyclinder heads. :(

Looks very tough. All steel gears. Big ratio on the first stage, with a 32 DP bull gear and press-fit pinions. Compatibility with the AM14U chassis is a very big deal.

All the design trades indicate classic AM thinking: robustness is worth a little weight. About a pound heavier than a DS -- but this will be a good trade for many teams.

I only wish the release had coincided with my team's Summer/Fall projects.

I hope they have paid special attention to the dog gear. I'm glad they've redesigned it. We had numerous pin-shears and tooth roundings on PTO using the old style stainless dog. Upgrading it to tool steel and making the teeth significantly wider helped substantially.

Speaking as a mentor of a team where a hundredth of an inch is a theory, WOW! Two pounds more than somebody's custom shifting gearbox is barely noise. Once we figured out that 80-20 was for prototypes and not competition robots, and that steel was only for fasteners and actuators, weight hasn't been a serious issue for us. If shifting is needed for our strategy this year, this will be way high up the list.

I haven't opened up the CAD and checked out the details, but I love the big reductions available in a two stage gearbox along with a lot of other flexibility (2vs3 CIMs, encoder options, output shaft options, etc). Reasonably low weight and stock spring-actuated pneumatic cylinder is very nice!

I can say this now without incurring the wrath of Kate Pilotte: Yes, the EVO Shifter is designed to bolt right up to the AM14U3 which is the 2017 Kit of Parts drive system.

Ding ding ding!

Commander Canada was also holding the new dog, with blanks of the plates behind him and an incompletely-machined one on his neck.

Oddly enough (or Easter Eggy enough...), clicking on the price on the EVO page (underneath the CAD model) flashes the ratio and output options red, white, and blue...

Click again and it just speeds up!!

Just wanted to quick plug the shifters-- 'Snow Problem was extremely happy with ours. They really are a drop in replacement for the stock gearbox on an AM14U3. We had tried to do shifters in the past, but they ended up being such a hassle to use with the kit chassis that we dropped the idea. The Evo shifters have worked great. Can't wait to see how they hold up in our upcoming demos.

I had absolutely nothing to do with this one. That one falls to Jerry, in one of his hyper-caffeinated rounds of beating our website into submission because we never envisioned doing this many options on one product page coding.

All,

We're beginning to open sales of some ratio options of the EVO Shifter now. Not all ratios are available at this time, particularly ones that contain 38T, 46T or 52T gears. We expect those gear ratios to be available in the coming weeks.

EDIT: Additionally, we've created a short video outlining some of the great features of this line of shifting transmissions.
