Robot Sizing / Volume??

Am I reading this right, that the bumpers are also part of the robot Volume?

So really its this sizing on your frame if you were to build to max??

A. ~28in by ~32in by 24in
B. ~22in by ~24in by 36in

Quote:

R03. Maximum ROBOT size, including BUMPERS and all extensions, must be constrained to one of
two volumes:
A. 36 in. by 40 in. by 24 in. tall (~91 cm by 101 cm by 60 cm tall).
B. 30 in. by 32 in. by 36 in. tall (~76 cm by 81 cm by 91 cm tall).
The ROBOT must remain constrained to the maximum inspected volume at all times during the
MATCH (i.e. A ROBOT may not switch between volume A and volume B without being reinspected).

Seems to be nothing stopping the robots from being the full size above the bumpers.

Re: Robot Sizing / Volume??

While you can fill the entire volume after the match starts, your robot has to be fully contained in the frame perimeter for inspection and before matches. It really doesn't give that much advantage to put something on top of a bumper when you cant go past it though.

There are frame geometries that let you reach past your bumpers. Just don't use the max volume for your starting configuration. I expect a few microbots this year.
