I could see it happening in a regional in a competitive region like MN or CA. Especially if the FMS somehow generates an amazing alliance.

I don't think it will happen in MN unless there are teams (hopefully us) who get very lucky with their quals schedule. (we are pretty unlucky typically)

I think it will be as common as getting 4 RP last year. That said, I think 3 RP is going to be much more rare than 3RP last year.

sometimes it is amazing what schedules can exist. My team in 2009 at worlds had the most amazing schedule from a qualifying point of view. This was back when OPR was pretty new, and at the end of practice day I ran the OPR calc on the freshly released schedule and it said we would rank 3rd. We were amazed, but somehow we never had to go against the top teams at all, and were paired with some great teams that year. 67 (IIRC) managed to lose a match against the OPR prediction and we ended up undefeated in quals and #2 seed on Galileo. 67 did go on to win the big show.

By my reading, this phrasing also includes any match in which both alliances get over 40 kPa and/or deliver 12 gears: 1RP to each alliance plus 2 from the win or tie. (There's nothing here that says 4RP in a match from one alliance, though I don't know if it's deliberate.) Having both qualification alliances break 40 kPa is much more likely than one doing that and gears, but I do expect at least one event where it doesn't happen at all.

While getting the RP may be very rare, I feel that it will be likely that competitive regionals/district events will see the 100pt Rotor Engagement bonus being achieved in elimination rounds.

Given that gear cycling seems to be a very easily specialized task, elimination alliances will likely consist of at least one gearbot focused solely on getting that major point boost. However, alliances can also forego full Rotor Engagement entirely if all alliance partners have the ability to climb, which donates 150pts.

Of course, doing gears and doing the rope climb is not mutually exclusive. Therefore, it would be very lucrative for alliances to have one gear specialist in addition to all partners being able to climb.

...well, that's anti-climactic.

I'll go closer to the opposite. There will be less than 5 non-CMP events (DCMP or "World" CMP) at which all 4 RP's are earned by an alliance in a qualification match.

I predict 40% of Non-CMP events will have at least one Qualification match where an alliance achieves 4RP. Once teams realize the value of the hopper in Auton, 4RP will be incredibly achievable.

Also I'm predicting that you will need 60kPa for the RP at Champs.

Unless I've missed it thus far, I don't believe they left any provisions in to raise the kPa limit at later events.
