Snow Days 2017
 

Today marks the 5th consecutive snow day for all schools in the greater Boise area. Any other areas getting hit like this? BTW, forecast for tomorrow, morning rain changing to snow and temperature dropping to 19...

The Portland/Metro area in Oregon is having similar problems (but not 5 days in a row). Tomorrow isn't looking good, considering the catastrophe that mid-December was (kids being stuck at schools until later than 10 pm).

Here in North Carolina, today is our second snow day, but it seems unlikely we will have a third as snow is melting.

Central Virginia has been out of school for five days as well. Likely to clear up later this week, but I wouldn't be surprised for the first day of HS classes to start on Monday.

Medical Lake HS (and most of spokane) was closed Monday, and we were unable to meet due to not knowing the school policy on meeting. In the wake of an unfortunate accident over the weekend with one of the students at our school, it is unlikely that we will allow us to meet if tehre is a snow day to keep us safe. Chances are theres going to be more snow days this week alone, and in turn means more days lost.

Same issue in Eugene OR area. Today is our first full day back from winter break, after 4 additional snow days before winter break.

today in Minnesota we had a heat wave of 16 degrees (without wind chill), along with a light 3-ish inches of slop that caused the back of your vehicle to slide when slowly turning at 5 MPH... School was alright today, there was one bus that ran a little late...

you southerners are so lucky... :(

It dosent help that our school has a rep for no snow days...

Here in central michigan we had today off and just heard that we have tomorrow too.

On snow days we meet a 12:00 pm if members can make it to the school safely.

Even being up in Canada I can count the number of snow days I've had on my left hand. Can't imagine 5 days in a row. My school board is known for doing stuff like this:

Was this student one of your team members? I offer my condolences to your team and anyone else who may have known him. This is an excellent example though of making safe decisions about going in on snow days, if the roads seem too bad don't risk it. Your life is not worth risking to make it into a high school robotics lab.

In all honesty the fact that teams from snowy areas don't get destroyed every year is pretty amazing. Between 1058 and 229 I've always missed out on a decent chunk of meeting time.

Also, with school cancelled, do your schools allow you to meet at school despite cancellation? I know ours won't let us meet if school is cancelled or after school activities are cancelled. If they do let you meet during snow days, I hope you take advantage of that extra time. ;). Once again, good luck to you all.

WOW. We had one in Colorado last Thursday, but that's been it. Have you guys been able to work at all? Hope the weather clears up soon.
