Q/A answers
 

I'm sure some people have noticed that the Q and A site is not responding. Either someone is DDOSing the site, or it's just poorly set up.

I was hoping that anyone who can see the questions and answers could repost them here so that the rest of us can actually view them.

Good news is there aren't any answers yet. It almost always takes at least a day before a question gets answered.

Bad news is if the site's down, questions aren't getting posted in the first place.

There's plenty of answers, like 20+. The emails seem to still go out, I've gotten some on questions I starred.

There are answers, I've read them.

Highlights include:

• You can get points for crossing baseline even if you cross back
• Pilot can operate lifts to take gears off of robots, or to help robots place gears
• A robot can have two mechanisms that, when down together, break the volume barriers, as long as they are mutually exclusive in hardware or software (is that a good explanation?)

These are all the Q&A responses that were up when I copied them over (I ordered them in ascending order but they weren't answered in order, which is why there are questions missing in the middle). I'm not sure what's going on with the website but every so often I randomly manage to make it on.

Thanks a bunch for this compilation of Q&A! Moderators: any chance we could get this pinned (and updated periodically through the end of the season)?

The GDC (last year at least) has modified answers before... I don't think we should be copying all the content out to here. At least once they get the site back.
I don't want my team to read something here and learn to take that for final, that's a bad habit, I want to see it straight from the GDC before I believe it.

Good point. I moved the responses into a google doc linked in my last post (and added the 5 that have come out since then), and I can delete it if the site is back up for everyone.

Why does question 6 have well over 200 followers, was asked yesterday and still has no response? Other questions that were asked after that question already have a response. :confused:

Since it is such a big question the GDC is probably still debating the answer

They also might be including something in the next team update before answering.

They skipped every question about rope composition, other than stating that glass beads are not a fiber. Velcro, combining fibers, etc. There must be some intense discussions taking place.
