Loud noise in Rookie Chassis

Hello, we are the rookie team 6722 Seahawk Metal. So are about to cut our drivetrain to be in the correct volume until we came across a noise in our chassis. So we took apart the Andymark's Toughbox Mini and we keep hearing this strange noise between the two toughboxes. Below I've put a link to the two of the sounds. Are those sounds suppose to sound like that?

Thank You!

Toughbox minis are supposed to be ran whilst lubricated for a period of time, andymark recommends 30 min.
You also should have a lot more lubrication on those gears. (they give you lots of the tacky grease, use it.
Thirdly, I would recommend running the motors unloaded, with grease for the extended period of time to properly "Wear in" the gears. (I don't know the correct word here)

Re: Loud noise in Rookie Chassis

You are actually supposed to run the gearboxes WITHOUT grease for 30 minutes each before greasing them to properly "burn in" the gearboxes. It is generally ok if you do not do this, but keep it in mind for future gearboxes. The reason you ru without grease is so the shavings of the gears running together from that first run do not mix with the grease. It won't cause any significant disadvantage if you don't, but it will lead to less total reuse of the gearboxes.

It will be very loud if you burn in the gearboxes correctly for that first run, but after greasing they will sound a lot smoother.

Hope this helps.

Run in and grease will help for sure. Once you install the rest of the gear box, so each shaft is supported on both sides, and they are fully enclosed they will sound different too.

We should, but never do, wear in the gears without grease, but we do always use ALL of the packet that is provided. It looks really excessive at first, but keep in mind that a lot of that grease will get flung off the gears and wind up stuck to the inside of the box.
