Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Okay, the Ultimate Question must be asked: Are you going to sit down for 3 hours and see it?

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is the second book in the series by J.R.R Tolkien. They are a classic. Anyone that likes fantasy should read them. Anyone that becomes hooked into this particular genre of fantasy should read Dragonlance series by Margaret Weis or Forgotten Realms: Elfshadow by Elaine Cunningham.

Myself? I liked the first one. I liked the books. I'm definately going to see it. In fact, I just reserved my (3) tickets for the 4:15pm showing on Wednesday, December 18th from Movietickets.com.

I'd go to the 11:59 on Tuesday, but I don't think my girlfriend would go with me to that one :(

Last year I went with my brother-in-law to see the first one. It was fun, but opening day was the day before my research paper was due. I still went, but I stayed up all night finishing it :D
Everyone that saw me the next day said I should just go home. I found a corner in Mr Basler's (Physics) room and fell asleep during the lab.

Reed B. 05-12-2002 21:34

Make no mistake:
I'll see it.

Coming Soon: Uruk Hai in Lord of the Dance!

Dave_222 05-12-2002 21:45

I will see it opening day i will wait in line for days if need be. I read all of the books about 6 times now and two towers has been my fav. each time.

Did you get your tickets? Waiting in line ususally does nothing unless you get your tickets in advance. Most movie theaters these days sells them in advance.

You may have to wait in line to get good seats, though. I plan on getting there as early as possible.

George1902 05-12-2002 22:11

i'll be going to the 12:01 am show

can't wait!

George

I am looking forward to The Two Towers. if you visit www.lordoftherings.net, there are alot of cool quicktime movies about the production.

Oh, and I told my friends that if I start speaking in Elvish, they have my permission to slap me senseless.

Dave_222 08-12-2002 12:58

Oh i will get in trust me... I have my sources.

Firewolf 08-12-2002 18:19

o yes, if I can get away with it, I'm gonna go see it on the 18th, if not, then that weekend...
My friend will probably reserve the tickets
- yep, I'm excited

Hailfire 10-12-2002 17:47

I want to see it. Hope it's better than the first.

Matt Attallah 11-12-2002 16:24

No, I would not like it if you went to the 11:59 movie because you would be going without me because I am still in school. That would be so mean.:(..........Oh wait you are good at being mean.......:p LOL. I am so excited you are taking me Wednesday. AFTER SCHOOL.:)

dixonij 13-12-2002 17:09

i dont mean to intrude but i think he means the 11:59 pm show that day (ie the midnight showing...)

i would do that... im seeing star trek nemesis opening night. (4th straight trek movie seen on opening night...)

Ryan Dognaux 13-12-2002 22:41

I can't wait till the movie comes out!!! I just finished reading the book and woa... it's awesome. I wonder if they'll do the movie like they did the book, splitting it up so the first part focuses on Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, and the 2nd part focuses on Sam and Frodo... and Gollum.. oops can't give much away for those who haven't read the book.

Long Live Frodo.

dixonij 13-12-2002 22:46

i highly doubt they will split the movie up... they should have things going on in sequential order not like the book...

Ryan Dognaux 14-12-2002 15:33

I agree, but then again, from what I read, it seems that when the story switches over to Sam and Frodo, time actually shifts back. So basically, while Aragorn and Legolas are doing their thing, Frodo and Sam are going to Mordor.. correct? It'd be hard to put in exact sequential order, but I bet they did it.

Dave_222 14-12-2002 16:48

Two thing that should make this movie kick some serious arse: Ents, And the long anticipated return of Gandalf

I've heard that The Battle of Helm's Deep is one of the most anticipated scenes in a movie, ever...

But this could just be marketing BS... how would you actually determine the most anticipated scene of all movies, ever?

elvira816 15-12-2002 01:04

I love the first one, and I can't wait for the second one to come out. :D

Dave_222 15-12-2002 12:36

Oh you are right jim that part is gonna be sweet, but i just cant wait to see the ents.

Johca_Gaorl 15-12-2002 18:36

I have a feeling I will see it very soon after it comes out.

Who will be dragging me to it:
My g/f
My sister
various other friends and members of team 122

:D It looks good though.

taran86 16-12-2002 07:40

MIDNIGHT BABY MIDNIGHT!!!!!!!!!! hehehe

DanL 16-12-2002 16:19

It's right before Christmas break! Who cares?!?

My mom would let me go to the midnight one I think, problem is a ride.

Wetzel 16-12-2002 22:25

The Lord Of the Rings was written as *6* books, not three. It was a publishing decision to publish them as 3 books. If you look, right before it switches to the other part of the storyline, it will say Book IV. They run concurent to each other.

Midnight showing, and my gf is going to see it too. :D

SHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I "implied" to all my non-geek friends that gandalf doesn't come back! I also "implied" that merry and pippin die. Hehe its not hard to do when i tell them how many times i've read the book.

Kristina 17-12-2002 13:47

I'm thinking the theaters around me shouldn't be too crowded since its finals week for all the high schools (though my friends did go see episode two last year before AP tests, crazy). But the glory of being a college student, I'm done so I have midnight tickets!

Dave_222 17-12-2002 23:14

Sorry amy that is right Gandalf dies from anthrax the other white powder, and the ents eat merry and pippen.

Wetzel 18-12-2002 03:57

WOOOOOOOOOO

That was a good movie.

I concur. Despite the fact that its 4:04AM in California and I just got back from the movie playing on an Imax screen, I'm not a diehard fan, nor have I read the books. I thought it was really good though.

elvira816 19-12-2002 22:03

It's so sad I haven't had a chance to go watch Lord of The Rings. I had AP finals all this week.

"What is a scientist after all? It is a curious man looking through a keyhole, the keyhole of nature, trying to know what's going on."

FotoPlasma 19-12-2002 23:38

I saw it today.

I think they changed more than a little, but less than a lot.

I have some minor qualms with the changes, but overall, I liked it.

Ryan Dognaux 20-12-2002 15:05

I just saw it, and it was awesome!!!!! .. Except for the changes.... I'll only mention a few things not to give it away for those who haven't seen it yet. The whole Gondor thing... that just made me mad.... and why is Arwen in the movie at all?!?!!!

Besides the changes, the movie is excellent, the ents are awesome! I recommend seeing it even if you're the die-hard-book-reader-who-hates-alterations-from-the-story-when-made-into-a-movie-type.

DanL 20-12-2002 15:20

I loved how they did the intro scene - really well-done transistion between the movies and not a cheap "When last we saw our heroes..." That was really nice. And Gollum... oh man did they do him great! He was kinda bleh at first, but the lil' fella grows on ya ;-)

Ryan Dognaux 20-12-2002 15:44

I thought Gollum was hillarious!! that part where he's talking to himself.. and the camera angle kept switching back and fowarth.. I was cracking up.

Joe Matt 20-12-2002 20:11

EXCELENT MOVIE.

Funnier than the origional, but also very spectacular. Brilliant.

Jon K. 21-12-2002 15:12

Ok... I saw the movie last night and thought it was horrible. It was nothing like the book and the deleted a few major parts. I liked the Ents though. But they definitely did a sucky job recreating the book into the movie.

DanLevin247 21-12-2002 15:28

Haven't seen it....not going to see it.

Only a couple more hours till I see it! BTW, I have never read the books, so I am seeing it from a newbie perspective. And Joseph, Brandon did all that work with the spell checker, you should use it :)

PacificSunChica 24-12-2002 00:50

Yes of course I'm going to watch The Two Towers, I saw The Fellowship of the Rings twice!:)

I couldn't stand the books, i gave them soooooo many chances and finally finished them. My friends made me go to the movie and I loved it. It was soo awesome.. Now I do not regret buying the box set. :)

Clark Gilbert 28-12-2002 22:07

I haven't even seen the first one (havent read the books either), but i thought The Two Towers was great. So great i went out and bought the game for PS2 and the game is just as good.

:)

hacksaw692 29-12-2002 00:58

i really enjoyed watching two towers. it took me long enough to get into the lord of the rings hype though. i just saw fellowship for the first time a week ago and saw two towers thrusday. *shrugs* i'm late when it comes to things...

i think gollum is awesome. i downloaded gollum's song. very cool song... creepy like and such. i think it fits him quite well...

i'm in the middle of reading the fellowship right now. it's horrid i know! i wanted to read the books before watching the movies, *sighs* ah wells...

BBFIRSTCHICK 29-12-2002 19:33

2 Towers

The Movie Rocked!! The only part that did upset me alittle was that they added the Elf's into the Battle Of Helms Deep, and they left a lot from the book out. Other then that it was great, and the special effects were amazing!!:) [font=times new roman][color=red]

Ryan Dognaux 30-12-2002 13:06

I can't hold it in any longer!!!

Okay for those who haven't seen the movie, don't look at this. Sorry but I just can't hold it in any longer.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING WHEN FARAMIR TOOK THE RING TO GONDOR?!?!?!?!?!?!? I screamed "what?!?!?!" when he said that, it was torture seeing that scene. The ring doesn't even go to Gondor in the two towers, instead Faramir allows Frodo and Sam to keep going on their own... they made Faramir's character too much like Boromir. That was the biggest flaw I saw. Yeah the elves didn't go to Helm's deep... but oh well that was kinda cool actually.

BBFIRSTCHICK 30-12-2002 13:55

yup

Ya that is another thing. He was supposed to let them go! lol! ya the Elves thing was cool though. The thing is much was left out. I wonder if they are somehow going to put what the left out in the begging of the 2 towers. Another thing was the fact that they made it seem as if Arwen was going to go out into the West with the rest of her people, that and she was not even supposed to be in it! But still it rocked!!:p

BBFIRSTCHICK 30-12-2002 13:56

Boromir died in the beginning of the second (if you're counting it as a trilogy) book. They changed the transition points for the movies. Did you not hear Smeagol mention "her" at the end of the movie?

Courtneyteam330 12-01-2003 00:26

IT ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the midnight showing and like there were 4 theatres open. I have seen it a total of 5 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I thought htey did a good job except Haldir died:ahh: even though he wasn't really at Helms deep. lol Gollum is wacky!!!

Elgin Clock 13-01-2003 01:21

Hehehehe!!! I was waiting for them tree's to finally wise up and kick some a$$!!!!!!! That was cool!

Also, at least I didn't have the same reaction I did after the first movie when I said "Where the heck is the rest of it?"
I never read the books and also didn't realize it was a trilogy at the time!!!

Oh, and Smiegel* was hilarious!!!

FatHead547 25-01-2003 16:15

*nods*

i loved it...in fact once i saw it i went back the next day to see it again...i've waited for a year to see it and i can't wait till "Return of the King" comes out next december....*smiles* i love the LOTR trilogy...they are great....:D :D :D
