Overflow loading station function

The manual clearly states that the overflow loading station is used to feed fuel from the overflow bins. However, figure 3-26 on page 32 depicts and labels a "gear slot". Is that an implicit allowance for feeding gears from the overflow loading station?

thanks

There are a number of answers...

It's cheaper (in terms of parts type/count) to build all 6 loading stations with the same parts, and it means that all the setup is harder to mess up at events (read as: easier on the poor setup crew). Additionally, it gives the option of dumping gears that happen to accidentally wander over from the Loading Lane into the robots--this was clarified as legal in a Q&A a couple days back.
