Gus,
Your use of the term "virtual floor" would be an appropriate way of looking at this. Anything that descends out of the bottom of the robot establishes the "floor" for inspection of the bumper zone and the max volume. I know that many teams have had issues with this in the past so I just wanted to be sure you understood my explanation. It is rare to have a playing volume specified as in this year's game so it is not usually an issue unless it also affects starting configuration. I am confident that the refs will be looking for volume violations during game play.
