Airship plans

I don't see any airship plans in the team version of stuff, has anyone come up with a workable set of plans for it?

A parent on our team (997) has created plans for the airship. They are not ready to be posted yet, but as soon as they are, I will post them to the thread. Are there any other plans you or your team would like?

That would be great. Thanks

There's probably quite a few teams looking to build the airship in the coming couple of weeks. Keep us posted, and thanks!

I would like to be able to post a spreadsheet of materials our team used to create field pieces and soon, plans for the airship to this thread (apparently, they will be ready for posting sometime next week). However, the posting rules prohibit attachments. Could this be changed?

Get more posts. No, seriously.

New users have more restrictions due to an influx of spam we had recently. There are ways to release them, including posting a bit, but there are three ways I can think of to get the spreadsheet up:
1) CD-Media, with a link to it in this thread (post as a whitepaper).
2) PM Brandon Martus, the webmaster, and convince him you're not a spammer. (That's actually pretty easy.)
3) Post more.

Some subforums do block attachments, but those are relatively few and generally intended for discussion of whitepapers or photos.

I've attached our team's plans, which we used to build two airships on Saturday. The results cost about $300 per airship in lumber, but they look and feel great, even though steam tanks, davits and lifts are yet to be added: https://twitter.com/celtxrobotics/st...379142656?s=09 . Feel free to use these plans, but please note that they come with no expressed or implied guarantee of safety, accuracy or legality. Happy flying!

Nuclearnerd: Thank you very much for posting these plans! The plans were very clear and nicely draw out. As a person who was actually going to cut these parts out of wood, it was nice to see the parts spec'd in different views so measurements were clear.

Re: Airship plans

My pleasure. The design was made to be built in lots of sub assemblies (wall and railing panels). This lets us move the parts up to our off-season event later, and also let us split up the work amongst a dozen team members during our build party. The downside of this approach is that almost all of the studs are doubled, so it's probably a bit beefier and expensive than it needs to be.

We came up with a really cheap gear lift that works well with this airship - I'll post drawings sometime soon. If you find a good way to attach Davits let me know!

I have to admit, when I first read the topic, I thought you were referring to model airships, for shop and/or pit decoration.

Oh man, I should have done what team 195 did with the hand rails. Much stronger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzbQ...ure=youtu.be&a

I have posted the plans and material list for the team built airship that our team put together. One of the parents on our team did a great job! We are looking forward to using it for our scrimmage in week 0!
