Hand me the gear, No the Gear!
If robots didnt use gears as often as they did, I'd say a game piece called a "Gear" would have been a great idea. However, I can only assume some of us have already feel victim to the Who's on First? gag when asking team mates to hand them gears.
I propose that we use "Gears" with capital "G"s to reference the game pieces, and go about our gearbox discussions with lowercase "g"s as normal. What do you think? |

"Wow that's an impressive bot on all 1:1 ratios"

Re: Hand me the gear, No the Gear!
What about when you start to call the mechanism that contains your gear the "Gear box" Been waiting to use that one.

Re: Hand me the gear, No the Gear!
We had to start calling our fuel storage the "bin" because we can't call it the hopper.

I work at a place called Greenbotics, we use the abbreviation GB for our group.
My robotics team likes to use GB for gearbox in Slack all the time, supplying me with a constant source of confusion. |

"TY" is short for thank you and makes me think someone is yelling my name. |
Re: Hand me the gear, No the Gear!
our fuel is stored on the robot in the "fuel tank", though one student is trying valiantly to make "trough" happen.

Re: Hand me the gear, No the Gear!
We have an entrance to our shop that is blocked from the rest of the room during the day by a bookshelf and moving cabinet. Last year we called it the "secret passage".

Re: Hand me the gear, No the Gear!
We have already made a VERY strong point of calling the HOPPER the Hopper and our robot ball storage the Magazine.
Please do not call your robot "hopper" a hopper, call it something else. |
