2017 OpenMesh Error Finding NPF Device Name for Adapter:

Hello! When our team tried to configure the router that came in the 2017 KOP, it asked us to update our firmware. When we tried to update the firmware, we got the pesky "Bridge firmware load failed: Error finding NPF device name for adapter: Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller Please reset the bridge and try again.

Our fire wall is off
Neither computer has antivirus software
We ran the program as administrator
We disabled other networks
We've tried two computers and two Ethernet cables (however, both computers did have a Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller)

I noticed that in 2016 some teams used AndyMark's method to fix this issue, but AndyMark's page only links us back to the same FRC page.

Other than try a third computer at home later this evening, do you guys have any other solutions? Thanks for the help!

We had the same problem today. We fixed it by going through a network switch. It seems to be an issue with the computer's adapter itself. Then load firmware, then configure.

Did this work for you guys. We don't have a switch lying around...

Yes it did work. We presume it was because the switch is better at handling the timeouts than the network adapter on the computer. It is in the configuration utility somewhere saying to try it. I can't recall where. You can go to Best Buy or Walmart and purchase any switch or if you're at a school I'm sure your IT department has one. If it doesn't work just return it. Always worth a shot.
