Using the original SmartDashboard vs SmartDashboard SFX (or 2.0)

Hey all!

I am trying to modify/customize the original SmartDashboard so that my team can see the battery voltage from the robot, and while I was reading up on the original SmartDashboard's features on screensteps, I came across SmartDashboard 2.0 or SmartDashboard SFX.

Apparently, you can create custom controls without having to modify SmartDashboard SFX itself, but going through posts Chief Delphi and other forums from two years ago, SmartDashboard 2.0 crashed/froze often.

I was wondering if anybody would know if that's the case for the SmartDashboard 2.0 in the 2017 Control System, or if SmartDashboard 2.0 has significant bugs? If not, would you still recommend it over the original SmartDashboard?

Also, looking at the sfx repository on the wpilibsuite organization on GitHub, it looks as if SmartDashboard 2.0 is still in development. I'm not sure if anybody knows this, but has it been officially released or is SmartDashboard 2.0 a work in progress?

Any help would be appreciated, and thanks a lot for reading!
