Looks more like a hex-broached pineapple, if it is a rope grabber where did the inspiration come from? Looks effective.

Yum. ABS pineapples.

Guessing based on the title that it's a 3D printed, hex broached durian. Not sure what it's use on a robot might be, other than scaring away the opposing alliance drivers from fear of the smell.

Well I really hope we arent using it as a rope grabber, its only about an inch tall and that would make grabbing the rope quite hard for our drivers...

Well I have a good imagination then. still want to post the stl? looks like it may be able to grab some kinds of rope.

For anyone who hasn't eaten a real one of these, I can assure you that a 3D printed version would taste better.

Is it a crown roller for flat pollycord?

Ding ding ding! I think we have a winner. I CADed exactly the same thing without the exterior details.

Is there any reason for the spikey exterior, or just for fun?

The reason we have the spikes is because we were worried about the grip of the bands on the spacers. We plan on spinning the rollers fairly fast and also we plan on powering multiple rollers with just one motor so the grip of the bands on the spacers is extremely important if we want a working bot.

If you want the STL file for this part you could pm me and ill try to get it back to you as soon as i can.

Thank you for this! We have been struggling with our flat belts - this may help.

By the way, we have been mining your previous robots for some time! We may have found another answer if you want to pm me!

Not sure what width flat belt you are using, but 1.625" Baby Colsons work nicely as crown pulleys for 1" flat. Lots of grip on the belt as well.

Some years ago, I was on vacation with the family in Asia, and I walked into the hotel room to a horrible smell coming from the closed door of the bathroom. Multiple scenarios came to mind including sewer backups, clogged toilets. I opened the door to discover my parents hiding inside, sheepishly munching away on durians.
