MSC

We recieved our MSC book today (they are quite large), and we also recieved a CD version of the book. We also recieved 3 banner sensors with it, just like the ones from last year.

The sensors are coming from Banner, actually. . . but, along with the MSC catalog and CD. Software from Microsoft and Filemaker Pro are to be included as well.

We haven't received ours yet.

What is the part number on the sensors? With that and the website I can figure out everything else I need to know.

They look to be the same as last year. On one side it says "QS18VN6LV" and I think the website is http://www.turckbanner.co.uk .

EDIT:

I also found this

What exactly is a Banner sensor anyway? What is their function?

I think it's this site: http://www.bannerengineering.com/pro...ics/worldbeam/ , but I could be wrong.

Some specs for QS18VN6LV in:

[EDIT]
OK, we're both right. Your site eventually links to my site.

Banner sensors are photo-electric sensors which FIRST uses in "Retroreflective Mode." Long story short, our sensors contain both an emitter and a receiver. Special retroreflective tape a certain distance away (0-21 ft. for our models I think) will bounce the signal (light) from the emitter back to the receiver, thus allowing the circuit to complete. Basically, using the sensors with special tape, one can know 1. Where the tape is located (and henceforth the location of an object attached to the tape) and 2. The sensors can watch for a break in the signal, thus knowing if something has stepped between the sensor and the tape.
I'll stop now, I think I've killed the spell-checker.
