Off Center Bearings

Are the bearings in anybody else's kit completely off center¿

If you are talking about the large 1/2" bore Torrington bearings, they are not off-center, they just look that way. The center bore is very accurately bored concentric with the outer rim of the bearing. The extended flange around the center is intentionally turned off-center (which creates the illusion that the bore is off-center as well). The black collar that goes over the flange (the big O-shaped piece of steel with a single set screw in it) also has a concentric bore, but with an intentionally off-center inner wall. A shaft is placed through the bearing, and the collar is placed over the shaft and the bearing flange. When you rotate the collar around, the two off-center surfaces cam together and lock the bores onto the shaft.
