ASP Download Help

I'm using Brinskter, and I can not find a decent download script for ASP. I'm looking for one like the one on rbayer's site, but without the most commonly downloaded files part. Just the total amount of downloads. I've searched yahoo, hotscripts, and devscripts (and some others I forgot). So, basically my question(s) is/are is there a script like this (I don't know ASP, so incase you were going to say "make your own"), and if so, where can I find it?

www.pscode.com

has php, asp, vb, c++, and a slew of other languages. great resource for learning and such...

Brinkster won't let you run cgi? If it does, just use the same script I have. If you look at my stats page, you'll see total downloads at the top in addition to the top downloads.

Thanks Jeremy.

RBayer: Nope, they only allow ASP, and I doubt they ever will allow anything else.

yeah brinkster is pure asp...their service is actually meant for testing asp stuff (atleast it was the last time i had to use it).

wow am I glad to have my own server dealing with brinkster and everything else sounds like a pain

Just run everything off of your own server at home on your computer. That's what I had to do for a few months. :)

But when I used Brinkster, I had to upload all the pages. But I find it strange you would have a lot. Most websites would have like 12 different pages...

I don't really know how to run my site off of my computer, I had the WPS (or whatever, the windows publisher thing), but now I don't got it. I very minimal actual pages.

If you use Windows XP or 2000 pro install IIS in the accessories section in Add/Remove Programs in everyone's handy dandy control panel.

Please don't run a site off of PWS. :) - In the very least, you need IIS on 2000 server. Plus a good connection and that your DSL/Cable will let you host a site. You really need Apache on unix. :) - I'd still recommend getting a actual host though. - See the old thread on that for good hosts.

This is a good colocation service (they provide hardware):
http://www.johncompanies.com/collocation/

Here's one that's really cheap and offers php/mySQL (no asp...but oh well):
http://www.ipowerweb.com/

and if you're going to run it off a server at your house, get linux/unix/bsd/something similar with apache + mySQL + an asp mod (there are 3...one is commercial...one is perl based...and the other is a gnu project methinks...).

if you need more help or something, you can contact me with what you're looking for (space req., supported server side scripting, database, etc etc) and i'll see if i can look around and find you something cheap (or i might be able to work something out on my connection)...

Thanks for the links, but I'm looking for a free one, without ASP. And around 15-30 megs (probably less, but no lower than 10 megs). The reason for wanting it free is because I am running my site without any profit, and I have no job at the moment, and don't feel like paying.

Google usually can find you good stuff:
http://www.netfirms.com/
http://www.freeservers.com/
http://www.50megs.com/
http://www.freewebspace.net/

Justa few. Not sure how many are good though...

http://www.9cy.com

probably the most space you can get...but they only offer HTML.

freeservers.com is pretty good...and so is 50megs.com.

look for one of those big sites that compare various hosts...they can usually offer a good selection of services.
