Can your robot go under the bar?

Is your team planning on having the robot be able to go under the bar?

If not, why?

Take a look at the discussion here:

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...threadid=16025

The only reason to not build a robot that go under the bar is that 14" is really small to fit under, and some of your ability might be limited if you choose to build a robot that small.

The top of ramp is so slipery and huge that most robot should be able to pass through it during matches.

I have a feeling some would rather stack up 15 bins than go under the bar, or have the ability to protect a stack with the whole robot.

I don't think the choices of this poll are indicative of all possibilities.

hmm, yes, i don't either. also, what about if someone made a modular bot, in which in one mode it could, but couldn't in other modes? need more choices! :p

please people! im just asking a really simple question. if it isn't yes or no, then say maybe! if the robot @ any point in the competition can go under the bar your answer is: YES!

if it can not go under the bar at any point of the competition, say: NO!

and if you feel like being secretive or have not decided yet, say:Maybe/ Not Saying.

please submit ur answer. im just trying to find this out for my teams sake.

:ahh:

Good point. Our current design will let us go under, but if we can't fit everything we need in 14", that may change sometime around week 5 or early week 6...

what robot???

;) :(

Yes, No, Maybe So

DaBruteForceGuy 11-01-2003 20:14

im sry, i wasn't listening.. could u say that again?

Ianworld 11-01-2003 20:36

Perhaps, its a possibility, :P

My team probably will. Most of the designs we've come up with have an arm to stack and thus can fold down. Also we have a design of a giant box, like the ball gatherers from last year that could fit under the bar and of course internally stack boxes.(A really cool method ;) ) I think every team could but I don't think it is that necessary. My team is just afraid of the moving wall that we can't get past. (we don't want to build one though ;) too boring) Remeber pieces of the robot can always start vertically and then fold down. I've heard the horror stories of Chiefdelphis robot two years ago ^_^.(i wasn't there) They're all terrified of them now.

good luck!

anyone who remebers 25 from 2001 will understand this :

who says you gotta go under the bar, there is another direction you could take :P

HolyMasamune 11-01-2003 20:43

We're designing it so that the robot will go under the bar...but there's always a possibility of failing =(
