3D Program Preference
Personally, I prefer Rhino3D. 3DSMax's interface is too messy for me, IMHO. Plus it doesn't handle NURBS very well (from what ive been told).
I've been trying to learn LightWave3D, but the fact is that ive been having less and less time lately, so that's gonna have to wait until next year, i suppose. |
Anim8or. 3ds Max is to hard to learn.

Blender is quite interesting... once open-source developers start using it, im sure some weird and wack things will start popping up with it.
Or, some not-so-weird or wacky things. Like, for example, a better interface. I've talked to hard-core Blender users who say that Blender is the best out there (and the stuff ive seen made with it is incredible for a free program 10 megs in size) but until the interface gets polished, im not touching it. Another thing: Why the heck doesn't it support .jpg or .bmp or anything other than .tiff?? |

I hate Blender's interface, it is a horrible program to understand. Yet it can do some very cool stuff.
I prefer TurboCAD Pro, just because it was cheap, and could do the complex stuff I was interested in. Now I am looking into Inventor, and I absolutely love it. I have also used 3Dmax for animations, but I really can't draw in it too well. Inventor all the way. |
Actually, they only support .tiff because Blender is designed to work on any platform... supposedly, .tiff is the only format that runs on all the major OSs (again i doubt this statement, knowing that almost 95% of sites use .jpg) .
at least, that wa the explanation give nby a Blender die-hard. |
soory for being so harsh but evidently some of you have not read any of the previous posts in the animation competition. Debating what porgram you use is pointless...it's a comlpete matter of opinion...so wasting your time saying which interface is better than which is stpuid. it doesn't matter...whatever works...works.

3D Studio Max is all that I know and while it's a bear to work with it is obviously a powerful tool and I truly believe worthwhile learning. I'll keep on keeping on.

I might have time to learn it, if I had it on my computer.
Does anyone know a legal way to put it on more then one computer (distant, non-networked) and run them at the same time? |
I have been using Inventor 6 for about 3 days and I love it. I am already creating really complex things, and it is SO EASY. Everyone check out inventor, you will be much more productive. It is so much easier than autoCAD, which i couldnt use well at all.

As I said in my other post, I would if I had the software.
