http://jive.ilearning.com/thread.jsp...=180&trange=15 it says: The Exide EX18-12 batteries provided in the 2003 Kits are of a "deep cycle" internal construction especially manufactured this year for FIRST Robotics. Regular EX18-12 batteries obtained from a battery retailer will most likely be of a different internal build, and may not have the same reserve capacity as those provided by FIRST. You may use a purchased EX18-12 for practicing, etc., but should use the provided batteries during official FIRST competition matches. P.S. The battery spec sheet shows a picture of the battery and it has the number "ES18-12" not "EX18-12" as in the above message and in the kit of parts documentation. |
Yes we noticed that discrepancy from the spec sheet also.
I still must ask, though, is it even "possible" to purchase extra competition batteries??? and from where? |
Can someone anwser the question of where to buy extra batteries? Our team has been searching non-stop and can't find anything offical.
(sorry for repeating the questions, but just bring it to the top for an answers.) |
answer
Lauren,
I am afraid the answer must be no...at least for COMPETITION batteries.... we found the SAME battery that is in the spec sheet...but, alas, that is NOT the competition battery... I believe we are ONLY allowed to use the batteries we were sent in the Kit of Parts for actual competition sorry this is the information I have been given.... good luck |
For practice purposes, you can buy batteries from Coast Energy at 818 361-6461.
Also try Powerscan at 800 459-6859. |
what if we broke one of our batteries...
