team number...
I remember a while ago Brandon had a message that said how his dad is obsess with the number 47...
Are there anyone else who's obsess with their team number? Before I post this message it say in my profile that: Status: Junior Member Total Posts: 33 (1.92 posts per day) That's a number I never thought will appear in my profile again... |
team number
I don't really get to say anything about my old team's number, 495. Not much comes up with it. I do, however, think of other teams. Whenever I watch an Indy car race I see Delphi everywhere. Or if I see a comercial for our local governor's school I think of team 122. I didn't remember many teams by their numbers, mostly by something else ie. "Rambots," Virginia Tech, or the Brazillians.

Someone knows us!!!!
Oh wow!! I'm shooked that someone actually remember us, the Rambots. Especially on a post that Carolyn posted and just named a few random teams and we got picked. A Shot out to you Carolyn!!

Every time i hear one of thoes army commercials "there are 212 ways you can join the army" or somthing like that. Or if I read a book i get to a page and say, good number.

Before this post I had 45 posts. Same # as Technokats. My clock says 2:34 (our team #), my AIM mail thing says 2:34 and 2:33(Rocobot).

442
The number 442 used to be an oldsmoblie car model. So we were always waving cars around in the stands and had the Oldsmobile 442 on the side of our robot but I don't think anyone got it. We need a new team name. Any suggestions.....?

How could I not mention the Rambots? After the clarificaton I got of the word "ninny" (as I said before, where I'm from that is not a compliment). I also got to meet the famous Anton and share many bad Irish jokes with Mike O'leary ( I wonder why he knows so many?) It was the least could do.
;) C~ya, Carolyn |
I don't see our team number all that often, but I do see our logo pretty frequently. I wonder why?:D

It's hard to see 349 anywhere (except when I'm awake in the middle of the night and glance at the clock, when it is inevitably 3:49 am). But other team numbers...all you have to do is drive the section of I-75 that's near me...66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74....they're all mile markers or exits, and conveniently enough TEAM NUMBERS. Highway travel has become synonymous with reminders of FIRST. And don't get me started on license plates... :)
Meg :-) 349, the RoBahamas (or I was till I graduated) |
...
I constantly see the number 173, on the packs of the cheap, white, lined paper, our school provides.

45
45 is a great number.
My oldest daughter is about 45" tall, and weighs about 45 lbs. I have an Adam Petty hat, who use to drive car 45 before he died last year. Now his dad, Kyle drives 45. Here's an odd one: For the past 10 years, whenever someone would come up with me and ask "Andy, I have a question..." I would answer "22 !" before they could ask the question. Finally, it was the right answer, about 6 months ago. Now I answer with a "45 !". I kinda feel sorry for the new teams and their high numbers. We really like ours and would never give it up. In my head, I keep track of all of their teams by their number. I'll memorize team numbers before their names, usually. Andy B. |
Maybe we were separated at birth!

Usually when faced with the same situation, I will answer "6!", never considered changing to "177!" though. Its got too many syllables. Hope your birthday was as good as mine. P.J. |
If anyone is bored, try finding how many times your team number appears in the digits of Pi ;)

Not 42?

Not the almighty 42? I thought that was the standard answer to that joke? Wanna piss someone off that you know answers this way, say it first. All pause a moment for the late Robert Hienlein |
My team number (180) really doesn't come up that much. Ironically, we do have 180 days in each school year, so anytime someone mentions that, my team pops into my head. It's more other team numbers that I see more often. Like Team 76 I think of often..is that even a team? I don't know. My school and my street are off of State Road 76. Maybe it's not a team number. I don't know. I just think of it as one. Maybe I have a screw loose..or maybe more than one..

88
Ours is 88.
Nothing really corresponds to it in my daily life, but all kinds of great rhymes appeared at the competitions. |
I basically cannot look at a number without thinking of a team.... the night before Mayhem on the Merrimack, Lee and I were pulling a traditional FIRST-a-holics all nighter ;) and suddenly I looked at the clock to see it was 2:22am....the first thing out of my mouth? "Hey, the Tigertrons from Tunkannock, PA! They'll be at Mayhem!" It's also sad when in math class you start doing things like taking the square roots of one team, and the answer comes out to be another.....I do things like that faaaaar too often :)

Ours (254) doesn't really come up that often, but I did see it today on a commercial for the new Big Bertha Driver. Apparently it has a "254% bigger sweatspot". I haven't really seen it anywhere else.
Yay, go 254  |

146/121
Team Numbers,
Well I rembember back in 1997 when they first insituted team numbers. Back then Blue Lightning was team 121 and I always liked that number. However FIRST decided the following year to renumber so we became 146. I think that year they took the teams alphabetized them and then assigned teams their number. Then they started the whole number as you come into the program method. As far as obsessing w/the number....I'd say I am most obbsessed w/the memories of the team. However I do notice myself looking @ the clock on my computer every once and a while and thinking "It's 1:46pm" or 126 or 131 or 237 ;-) So yeah I guess that was my ramble about team numbers. -Justin |

In 1997, we were team 63, and I know it was assigned alphabeticaly. In 1998 we were team 88, and we've been ever since. |

I started reading, was like wow, look at the old folks delurking, then suspicious, looked at the date and wondered what n00b was reading all the posts ever and dug this one up. I surprised when I saw it was you. Wetzel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Technokittie word count! |
You n00b! :D :p ;)
What's sad is I actually remember this thread. |
I got a conversion sheet in my physics/alg 2 class, and it says that 1" is equal to 2.54cm ... I was like *gasp* Cheesy Poofs!! =P
I'm not only obsessed with my own team number, but any other team number I can recognize in the world... :] |
In my case, every time someone said "Grr" in a chat or IM, I'd point out 340. So yeah, I have nothing better to store in my head.
|
The number of my former team, 448, appears in a Chef Boyardee commercial. In the commercial, the kid takes the last can of ravioli at 4:48pm.
|
I love my team number!!! 88!!! ITS GREAT!!!
|
It is funny, well not really, that every time I hear the number 180 in one of my classes, I am reminded of robotics. My math test today had a question with something about 160 peanuts and 180 cashews.
|
I'm glad we're cashews not peanuts :p
|
hehehe, i'm doing vocab for SAT Prep right now, and the word i'm looking up is on page 180!

I was in chemistry om Friday and we were dissolving Aluminum to find the theoretical yield and the actual yield. We found the mass of the aluminum to be .461 grams. The first thing I thought of was Boiler Invasion.

every day after school whe ntaking the bus home, in order to stop traffic one bus comes from the other side of the street and lets the rest of the buses out. that bus number is 95, and i alway think of grasshopper everytime i see it.
|
i think of our team number when i see it, such as when i look at the clock and it says 2:36... or an older brother's dorm room number (236).. but it's usually kind of rare..
