Can you please post dumb random statements like these which have nothing to do with anything serious in Chit-Chat? There is no reason for them to take up space in the "latest threads" section.

Thank you,

Cory

Mike Schroeder 19-01-2003 13:43

cookies heh? well, thats rookies for ya, everyone knows that if you really wanna win at this thing you gotta take the brownies

Just remember that while competeting - GO for the Brownies

let me quess-- Private school

NOT US!!!!!

Frank(Aflak) 23-01-2003 21:15

to 1018 . . . what makes public schools so disadvantaged? I mean, most public highschools that I can think of here, or the more respectable ones (clayton, kirkwood, ladue, etc.) have wha-hay more funding than we do. Its called government funding. Which we do not have. If you mean all the smart kids goto private that is also blatantly untrue.

Whether your schools is public or private should have no effect whatsoever on how impressive your ranking is.

'sides, public highschools have more people to go out and fundraise!

If there are no cows...what the heck is a Hoosier?

Ken Loyd
Team 64 :yikes:

David Kelly 25-01-2003 22:20

well, on a side note our team leader has like 40 head of cattle. mostly Milking Shorthorn dairy show cattle.

and for a definition of Hoosier:

Quote:

Pronunciation: 'hü-zh&r
Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps alteration of English dialect hoozer anything large of its kind
Date: 1826
: a native or resident of Indiana -- used as a nickname
- Hoosier adjective

Word History: We know where Hoosiers come from: Indiana. But where does the name Hoosier come from? That is less easy to answer. The origins of Hoosier are rather obscure, but the most likely possibility is that the term is an alteration of hoozer, an English dialect word recorded in Cumberland, a former county of northwest England, in the late 19th century and used to refer to anything unusually large. The transition between hoozer and Hoosier is not clear. The first recorded instance of Hoosier meaning “Indiana resident” is dated 1826; however, it seems possible that senses of the word recorded later in the Dictionary of Americanisms, including “a big, burly, uncouth specimen or individual; a frontiersman, countryman, rustic,” reflect the kind of use this word had before it settled down in Indiana.

Ken Loyd 26-01-2003 00:01

Thanks Dave,

I am still not sure what a Hoosier is.

Let's get together in Phoenix in March and maybe I can finally figure it out.
