Why do they start so many threads about guys/dating?

About a year ago, we had a massive post-a-thon about this. There were two threads, each several hundred long. One for guys, and one for gals.

They covered everything from pick-up lines to what different colored roses mean (and YES, different colors have different meanings) They also covered the controversial subject of guys holding the ladies door open for her.

well we start so many threads about guys and dating because we like to see what people have to say about it and some times we want / need help with that or other stuff like that

Please, don't use 'we,' as you don't speak for everyone.

I think the world would appreciate it if you jumped right in and started participating in the many, many, many, many existing, active threads that already exist. That way, you can still play Dr. Phil, but the rest of us have fewer threads to sift through while we're looking for interesting, meaningful, informative discussion.

IMHO, there is a hug amount of curiosity regarding the opposite sex. Think of it this way...we all want to know about this or that team's robot design, so imagine that boys or girls are the secret thats hidden during the six weeks. Only boys/girl thoughts arent made public after ship date.

First: here's my quick three cents.

Here's the truth. Nobody understands girls. Not even you girls. I've accepted that a long time ago. Once one accepts that, one can stop asking questions and start having fun.

That's just my three cents.

Luckily, we guys are easier to understand. We have this short little list of needs and wants; you meet them, and we're in love. The beauty of it all is that we're all the same. If a girl doesn't understand a guy, chances are, she's thinking too hard.

bah, just figure out what their favorite flower is and well give it to them. ha and/or give then roses (red) for 2/14 and other significant occasions.....and a few "just cause."

Personally, I just say give them their favorite color too. Nothing too hard about that, and you will always win! :D

no one knows what the other sex is thinking and both spend so much time thinking about what the other is thinking about both waste time and don't take advantage of the time they have together. so girls, don't care about the color of the flower, it doesn't always have to be a rose guys be creative, you should only care that the person gave it to as a caring gesture. and guys we need some better pick up lines cause the ones we have now just don't work as well as they did 20 years ago when they were first used

Sometimes people give flowers "just cause" they felt like it, even if they aren't dating.

I love flowers. :) They're a good way to brighten someone's mood! I haven't gotten flowers in a while, though. :(

So go out and get some and give them to her. Flowers...you don't always have to buy fancy and expensive ones....and definately not ones that are about to die. Oh, and with corsages....watch out, my date to homecoming...Pamela's (she's on 179.....which was also a FIRST date for both of us....no pun intended with robotics)...two of the flowers fell out of it but it still looked good.

It is impossible to speak in generalities for either sex. Every person on this earth is different.
So just get people what flowers they want (within reason)

I personally wouldn't mind getting flowers, even though I'm a guy.

Anyway Angier (or anyone else who has an answer), this may sound stupid, but I like this girl at my school and I think she may like me. How should I approach her about it?

Give her flowers! See dating tips in Chit-chat of this forum for obvious reasons. In regards to the girl you like, seriously, be bold, take the chance and ask her...you never know how the other person feels untill you ask! Even if she says "no"...at least you'll know how she feels and she'll know how you feel about it (relationship). Also, take her out on a date or two (don't ask her out immediately if you don't want too) and basically talk about stuff, get to know one another better...of course more time will be availiable after the robot is shipped....but 2/14 is a good day to give her flowers...and maybe even candy too.
