*shrug*

Believe it or not, each 'MOE' robot is actually named something different with MOE somewhere in it. 2000 was Big MOE, 2001 was Li'l MOE, and 2002 was MOEHawk. As for 2003, well, we like to have a working robot before giving it a name, as for now, some of us stick with MOEv2003 because the team hasn't voted on something else. Rest assured, we will not dissapoint you with a cool name involving MOE.

Something else to look out for: Every year our shirts 'evolve'. In 2000, we only had 1 gear with a halo on it.. 2001, there were 2.. 2002, there were 3.. and in 2003, there will be 4! Anyone sensing a pattern?

Name....

Well Team 1086 wanted to go with Phil for the robot name, but sadly we went with...... drum roll.......... iPoe.
Its suppose to stand for something, personally i didnt want it, i think its just rip off of Apple and their iLife stuff. well who cares, superb robot names are hard to come by for new teams.

According to team tradition, 247's bot should be called Bearfoot V....but I like "segway"

Apes of Wrath

Well, in order to follow our punny team name, we've come up with another monkey 'bot. Our team name is The Apes of Wrath, after Steinbeck's novel The Grapes of Wrath , which is fitting because our coach is an English teacher and because we're Californian. Last year, the robot's name was Furious George, after that delightfully playful monkey, Curious George. This year, in keeping with the monkey spirit, our robot's name is Kong Fu with Karate Chop action (don't want to explain, lol, you'll just have to see at competition).

George1902 23-01-2003 21:18

the years i've been on SPAM we've had some pretty neat 'bot names.

1998: Kenny (kept dying on us)
1999: Ga-Doinkle (after the sound one of it's components made)
2000: Sexy Lexy (she was made almost entirely of lexan)
2001: 3-Bits (that's how much variable space the coders had left)
2002: Fluffy (cause aluminum is so cuddly looking)

i'm really interested to see what 180 comes up with this year for their robot name...

as for 1083, our bot's name is Halcyon. i dunno why, but that's what the kids decided on. a bit vanilla for my tastes, really...

Our test robot has been christened thus...
SCHNELL UBERFURBY

Inspired by the members of our team who administer www.toydestruction.com.

we're kinda vacillating between whirly bird, dirty bird, and early bird...i personally like dirty bird though...we do have a team mascot that's a monkey that we named Tobor Sven Smeagol...

Josh Hambright 25-01-2003 21:52

i have a feeling ours will just continue the tradition we started our first year and be "Rowdy Pete" aka "Rowdy 4"

Contains the Wild Beast: Maxwell's Demon

Team 1064
Robot name: ***Maxwell's Demon***
Team name: Wild Beast
(from WILDstang (111) and the BEAST (71))

-------------------------
We were debating between Schrödinger’s Cat (with Meaning of Quantum Theory) and the Maxwell’s Demon (A machine of this type, of great antiquity and fine pedigree, is Maxwell's Demon, the prodigy of James Clerk Maxwell, one of the biggest brains in nineteenth century science and the architect of the modern classical theory of electricity and magnetism.). There is a theme starting here.

We choose Maxwell’s Demon before the game was even released and with thinking through the game, we could be the Demon on top of the ramp that keeps the Red (hot molecules) and the blue (cold molecules) separated.

*Schrödinger’s Cat maybe our robot name next year when D.J. from the TechnoKats joins our team.

The link below explains Maxwell and his accomplishments and has a very addicting game of being the demon yourself and trying to get the warm and cool separated.

It's really a tough choice for our team! Ahh, the variety:

1. Cam the RamBot
2. Ram the CamBot
3. The Cambot
4. The RamBot
5. The WeDon'tReallyHaveAThemeBot

You all probably know us: ram horns, ski supplies, The Fish, oh well.
