Team 60

We are still Working at the "Robotics Barn" 6+ HR a Day,7 Days
a week..........4 to GO........
We are playing King of the hill,
Looking forward to Phoenix & L.A
See ya all at Chatsworth??
Good luck!
Geo.

P.S. we are also working on Invisibility

Never happen, George.

You folks are too good and too respected to ever become invisible.

Two years ago there was a rumor that some of the Kingman brain trust could walk on water. I hate to break it to you, but...you folks are just too nice to be anything but human

Looking forward to getting together in Phoenix in March.

Team 64:cool:

PS You should know that Don Knight once sold ice cube trays to eskimos.

SpaceOsc 24-01-2003 01:18

Indeed

Its gonna be great seen both of you teams at chatsworth and at the LA Regional

LOL no one told me if the Air idea was the right one... hope your not avoiding answering it:yikes: lol J/K

You don't need to say wut your robot can do but in the spirit of first sharing part of the game

F.A.P (forward air propulsion)? lol i wonder

Don Knight 24-01-2003 08:44

Moving Forces

Those containers will look like trailer houses in a tornado.... if this all gets working .... having some difficulties with the thrust vectoring system and spool up time.

Hope folks don't mind getting their hair mussed up.

:( Sorry, 64 will not be at Chatsworth this year.

Please remember that the following words also begin with 'F':
foolhearty, fiasco, faint, fibber, FREQUENCY.

Team 64 :yikes:

PS Don, be careful what you say!

Never Happen

A=bc/2
Geo.
PS I herd it was Ice to go WITH the trays.

HolyMasamune 25-01-2003 23:47

Maybe your poll should include other choices, like stacker+king of the hill, etc because I'm sure most robots have more than one function. And weird is spelled w-e-i-r-d, not werid or however u spelled it on the poll :)

SpaceOsc 26-01-2003 03:40

lol weird

yes i know but i didnt think anyone would mind enough to write a reply to call me on it obliviously you did though lol oh well
:)
and i didnt put any combos cuz i saw other polls to be unspecific in that manner .. they posted an option "combinations" and 60 percent went to the combo section but that told no one anything
so i just placed specific sections with no option to place a very vague response

if your robot as different things then vote more then once and put everything you got there.

Air

What a wonderful idea - Air

Still working on thrust vectoring and Scatter Shield for the fan blades with gearing and drill motors tips of blades go supersonic (hense the need for earplugs);)

3000+CFM & 150-175+MPH will muss your hair :ahh:

If we get the vectoring working will regear to get 200MPH+

With both nozzles we may even be able to blow other robots off the platform if they have fixed flat sides.

SpaceOsc 27-01-2003 12:17

WOw

well is that your robots "secret Weapon".... i must say I'm not surprised nor impress lol i expect as much or even more from your quite glorious team. keep rising the bar for all

is it air or not .... since it was earlier it said was that it wasn't air... but now it sound like it is and its done and already bringing down boxes every which way.....

if it is air you dont mind if my team makes something specifically made to dampen you out

lol thats more of a joke but knowing theres gonna be a robot that can beat and even disable everything on the field leaves me uneasy..... i already thought of a way to stop your "air cannon" the prob is we would follow you around or at lease be in the general area then we would kinda stop you from even seeing your robot and blocking all its emissions.....

umm lots of work but it wouldnt be all the hard connecting it to our large moving wall... we are a wall and very stable we kinda just need to face you.... but not actually be all the way solid and and if need always flip your robot every which way so you dont get clear shots....

just thinking..... dont fear us were just the bagel bytes we haven't made a name for ourselves yet... but 2003 might be the charm

so bottom line

air or not don?

To air is Human, to Forgive Devine

I truely wouldn't want to get close to the business end of the thrust ducts. Getting in from of them would put your robot in a dangerous position, depending on weight and surface area "Your Bot" could go bounding across the field like the containers. :ahh:

Still having some really vectoring challenges, with that much air at those velocities it take some pretty good forces to redirect the nozzles.

May end up having to scrap the idea for something simplier. like an negatively charged ion cannon. Using the negative charge the containers create when they interact with the carpet and a Tesla Coil Ion Cannon:yikes: but have had some problem there too....

Don,

You have gone too far this time. We are recalling your decoder ring. By the way, Telsa called and he wants more royalties. Sorry Don, we had to cancel you limo service in Houston to pay Telsa. If you find it necessary to spill any more of our beans, we may be forced to borrow chickens and red suspenders from Dave Lavery.

SpaceOsc 28-01-2003 12:45

lol

Dont worry don only bringin fear to those who had none

lol as for our robot i guess it will all dpend on our drive drain cuz there no way your bring us down with air

we have 4 main sides but dozens of surfaces that are to small collectably to have any surface area to push on.... if we stand in a certain way in front of you we can redirect your wind lol with our Bagel Wall of doom which is not really a wall but more of a net in many ways ummm if we add some PVC then we can do some of that redirecting.... for now im thinking our robot will be modulating per around anyways so no need to worry

Thanks don

wut are you guy using for your drive?

im sure a whole fan on your bot must make it harder to move around well

-Oscar-

Don Knight 28-01-2003 13:41

Drive

Not sure which motors they've decided to use for the drive system. Had to re-orient the intake, kept sucking up stuff on the carpet and sometimes the carpet itself. Again at full throttle the problem won't be moving it will be keeping from moving.

Robot is actually getting some gyro stabilization from the spinning mass of the turbine type blade system.

I think most teams will be "Blown Away" if we get everything working the way I'd like it to.

The Tesla Coil group ran into some difficulties, it discharged too soon arching over to Gila IV frying the controller - oops guess we can't use the negative charge ion cannon idea.

So most likely it's just a bunch of hot air...

George 28-01-2003 15:18

Don:
I was thinking you were blowing "Hot Air" with the tesla coil
Bit, ..then the cat reminded me this was posable to do in AZ,
Static Charge (ZZaped the poor thing 6 ft )
we are bringing dryer sheets to counter this
