Domian Name

Ok. What do you people think about the com, net, us, and org domain names for your sites? Is their any reason why you chose which one that your team uses?

MattK 21-01-2003 20:59

Ummmm well I chose CHAOS131.com beacuse its a our team name and .com is the most common.

I used godaddy.com to register it.

Visit the site if you want CHAOS131.com

The webmaster of our team seems to have money growing on a tree out back.

I know we own a .com and a .org... maybe more.

Registration is only $15/yr at most. A lot of places are cheaper. ($5-10/yr)

ChewyMasterFlex 21-01-2003 22:48

I use .co.jp cuz I'm a proud japanese individual...hehehe...:yikes:

but its wasted money. sure its small potatoes, but we never use some of them.

i've only seen www.mvrt.com mentioned. the rest seem to be just in case someone has a finger spasm but still manages to get lucky.

activemx 22-01-2003 02:05

hm.. i dont see how the money is wasted.. its only around $20 year for two domains.

Update
That is because mvrt.org is the original domain that our hosting company added to their servers. mvrt.com is just an alias.

HFWang 22-01-2003 20:16

Small money is still money. :-P

Whatever. I just thought it was strange that we had domain names that are never used.

Duke 13370 22-01-2003 20:51

we chose lightningrobotics.com because it was available, and it is a common domain.

Now that i think about it, it would have looked slightly better for potential sponsors if it was .org ...

oh well

Rickertsen2 22-01-2003 20:58

If ur looking for cheap domain name registration then check out GoDaddy.com Thats where i buy my domains.

Jeremy_Mc 22-01-2003 21:08

gandi.net gives you dns + registration for 15 dollars a year...

10 dollars if you have an authoratative DNS server.

Stargateinc.com gives you a domain and DNS for 7.95 a year, but you can just use www.soa.granitecanyon.com for the public DNS server for free. I bought 4 domain names off stargate and everything's been working fine.

We're working on www.theforceteam.com right now...not up yet, but will be soon...and then it'll kick all your butts all the way to the awards podium...:p

Same thing with us. And another factor is that it cost $12,499 to get www.raptar.com

www.raptar.org <---- Our Website
