The adults on our team released last week that we will be at the Ramada Plaza Hotel at Greenway Plaza

How about everyone else thats going?

We are staying in the Reliant Park area at the Radisson Hotel Astrodome......:cool:

Make sure you buy hotel packages
 

No matter where you stay make sure you are buying the team packages offered by the Meeting Company.

If you don't your team will not be able to attend the Friday and Saturday Night activities at Six Flags (i.e. Team Social and BBQ). The only exceptions I'm aware of is if your team is from the Greater Houston Area you'll be able to purchase tickets seperately.

My understanding is also that FIRST is going to tow the line on this one - so you don't want risk not buying the "package" unless you're willing to have your team miss the Six Flag activities.

You have to admit that the prices of this years packages are less than last years at WDW.

We're currently staying at the Comfort Suites, though that may change. We originally set it up on our own, but now we're working to get into the package deal so we can go to the special events.

Yeah, we're still out on this one. Buying the package would be an extra couple hundred for each of our team members to pay, and we're not yet sure whether everyone is willing to do that. I'm willing... but if my teammates aren't, it's no big deal. Any other teams in a similar situation?

She didn't say the exact same ameneties. When you are really short on cash, you save money by cutting out ameneties.

I don't know the exact situation, but you can't always compare apples to apples in real life.

Just out of curiousity, where exactly did you find this information (that you will not be able to purchase team party tickets without a FIRST hotel package)? Do you have a link somewhere?

Team 330 (Beach Bot) is staying at the Fairfield Inn - Houston Galleria! Is anybody else staying there? It looks pretty cool because there is a mall with an indoor ice skating rink pretty close by!!! We didn't have enough money for the packages :( but that will be ok. See you there! :)

We're staying at one of the Houston Omni Hotels. There are two of them so I don't exactly know which one we are staying at yet.

I think that is near the galleria as well.

We dont fly when we travel because we cant afford it, we all work hard all year so we think that everyone should be able to travel therfore we charter a bus to make the trip less costly. If a team can afford to fly and buy the package thats great, and im sure it makes things a lot easier, but not everyone has the money and is able to do that. We also try to make things cheaper for the students because not everyone can afford to pay all the expenses to go on the trips. We may not be able to have all the amenities that a lot of teams have but we have fun and make the best of what we have, and if we cant afford the package deal then we will do, and have fun with what we have and can get. As far as local teams being able to buy tickets, we begged and offered to buy our own and as you can read in the thread about were told that we would simply be part of "the public". Doesnt seem like the FIRST spirit but we wont let that bring us down.

It seems a lot of teams will be missing out on the party.

Party or no party we will be there staying at the Holiday inn and 7787 katy freeway and cant wait to see everyone!

team 250 (Dynamos) are staying at the oaks westin, the one next to the galleria (as i have been told), we wanted the galleria westin but that was alot costlier, and oh yeah, ice skating in texas in a mall will be fun...

It's not looking good... The only thing we were able to win at the BAE Regional is a Spirit award... We love winning the Spirit award but we need more than that to get us into Nationals... We are all praying that we can do better in New Jersey to make it...

We didn't register for Nationals because we weren't sure we'd be qualified to go. But then we won the Leadership in Control Award at the Sacramento regional so we're all in a rush to try and get there. We have no idea where we're staying...yet.

Team 677 will be staying at the Ramada Plaza. Any of you who like running up and down the halls knocking on random people's doors...if you knock on the door of the room out of which Japanese music is blaring, heads WILL roll =P

It looks as if we will be staying in the Double Tree Post Oaks, which is currently the cheapest non sold out package left. BTW The Double Tree is a darn nice hotel, as are many of the others. I was very surprised at how nice many of these hotels are when I first looked a few months ago.

on this note i have a question, when you say sixflags, are u talking about just astroworld, or both astroworld and waterworld, coz it just doesnt feel the same without stopping by at the water park, just a question, if anyone has an answer pls reply. thx

must be nice to spend $384 on a room, i don't think there's any way that we'll be able to spend more than $121;)
and i don't think that the team social thing in Six flags is all that great, at epcot last year everything was closed, though it may be different in houston??!! i think our team skipped the package and decided to put the money towards full day passes for one or two days after nationals.

Team 213 the Dirty Birds will be staying at the Houston Hilton Plaza (by the medical center). Will anyone else be staying there?

I just wanted to touch on the cost of the packages you are all talking about. I agree that they are expensive, but not as bad as the Florida rates. We are bringing 17 students with us who struggled to fund raise. My biggest complaint as a coach is that my family will be traveling with me as my wife helps our team. I am bringing my 2 children ages 4 and 6. We HAD to pay full price (package prices) for our kids to attend. Are any other coaches having this same problem? We contacted FIRST and the Meeting Company who said we had a legitimate complaint but there is nothing they would do about it. (FIRST did point out that we could leave our children home, which was not an option, and frankly quite rude of the woman to suggest .) When we asked if we didn't pay the price for them they responded that the kids could not ride the shuttle or go to any of the after competition events, which would mean our whole team would have missed out. So we had to pay for them to attend. Is there some way that we could try to have FIRST offer the individual sales to teams next year? I'm not trying to single out any of the teams from the Houston area (because you all deserve to go) but is it fair to sell tickets to those teams because they live there and not offer them to the teams who can't afford to buy the packages? Does anyone else feel this way?

All of the FORD sponsored teams are staying at...I think Best Western Greenway, Houston....at least that's what is says in my packet...Hmm...I have no idea where this is...:confused:

Team 891 will not be staying in a meeting company slot due to how late we got our money together. We weighed $200+ per person for what was left, a hotel about 12 mi from the park, versus the Motel 6 across the street at which we will stay for about $45 a night....we won't get into Six Flags for the Friday night but since we're not leaving until Sunday early afternoon we're going Saturday with a group discount.

Kinda sucks not to be part of the 'plan', but we're not capable of funding it....

We are staying at what is called a DRURY INN. Very nice, very comfy, close to the arena.

263 is staying at the holiday inn - astrodome. the only thing between the hotel and the dome is its parking lot

That is a suprise that only our two teams so far are staying there. Although supposedly according to the travel thing FIRST has it is booked meaning were are the other teams staying at the Holiday Inn Astrodome at Reliant Park.

It's too bad that the teams are so spread out this year. Last year we stayed onsite at the Disney All-Star Sports hotel, along with countless other teams. Does anybody remember our victory laps and good-natured hooliganism every time the Maple Leafs scored a playoff goal? How about our coyote mascot?

BUZZ 175 is at the Westin Oaks at the Galleria Mall.

We'll have to schedule an Ice Hockey "Shootout" Game with Team 230 staying at the Westin Galleria on the other end of the mall!

Sweet that means there are four teams there. I am supprised that there are not more. The hotel is 11 stories tall so it could fit at least 11 teams and according to the meeting company website the hotel is full.

Team 48 at the Westin Oaks Galleria
 

Following an action-packed 24-hour bus ride from Ohio, Team 48 will be staying at the Westin Oaks - Galleria.

The Astros will be playing the Reds at Enron/Minute Maid/Whatever Field at 8:05 Wednesday night, and I think some of the Delphi E.L.I.T.E. crew will be heading over there to catch the game. I doubt the place can hold a candle to Jacobs Field, but it should be a good time anyway.

so thus far from posts alone we know us the Dynamos #250, Buzz #175 and Delphi ELITE #48 will all be at the Westin Oaks, and on the other end of the mall we know team 230 will be at the Westin Galleria...
