Stuff Behind the glass
I havent review all the rules yet but i wanted to know if anyone knows if there rules against visablility aids such as Stools and chairs to sit on of stands on or even mirrors during the match behind the glass?
what allowed and wut isnt behind the glass? |
You are not allowed to use stools of chairs or anything like that, nor are you allowed to get lifted up by one of your teammates. I did see in one of the questions on the forum though that you might be able to use a periscope, as long as it doesn't go over the plexi wall.

see rule gm6
|
A team has asked on the FIRST forum about one of thier drivers using something to stand on because of height. They have not responded to it yet but the team refers to rule GM13
|
what about shoes? My sister has a pair of combat boots with like 6 inch platforms.
I mean, what If we made wooden platforms for our shoes that were like a foot tall. Then I could stand 7'3" . . . . cool. except when I fall over. |

Break your driver's leg...then buy him an IBOT :P It's worth it...really.
|
most people, even the little folk, have no major problems standing for up to 3 min behind the wall... i seriously doubt FIRST will allow anyone to bring a chair or stool, because then everyone else will whine and moan and then they either have to let everyone, or let no one, and then they have to decide wether its fair not to provide the chairs, and blah blah blah
no offense, but if you can't see over the wall, how will you even hope see over the the ramp, box stacks, and other obsticals this year is full of. if you can't see, i'd suggest letting other people drive or something :( |
Can you sit in a chair as long as your feet are on the ground?
How high is the plexiglass sheet, and what is the height from the ground to the beginning of the plexiglass? Just wondering |

for those people who are vertically challenged (as my old homeroom teacher would say), why not just put something on the robot that you can see? Like our team, what we're thinking of doing is putting one of those 4ft tall orange bicycle flags on the back of our robot. That way you can see it from across the field, even if it's on the far side of the ramp. Try it, wouldn't hurt
:) |
If you truly know how to drive your robot you don't need to see it at all time.. The way that we test drives is to make sure that they can't see the robot and they have to be able to bring the robot back without hitting the wall.. If you have the feel for your robot you should do alright i say..

Re: Stuff Behind the glass
Folks,
More generally, from Section 7 - The Tournament: <T08> Special clothing and/or equipment will only be allowed on the playing field for those who demonstrate a need based on a physical disability. Aidan P.S. - Don't shoot the messenger... :) |
Re: Stuff Behind the glass
Could we have a Calculator or pen and paper behind the glass?
