drivers

We have two joysticks and we were wondering if there could be a person for each joystick or just one person controlling both.

You may have two drivers/operators. In fact, I can't find anywhere in the rules that says the human player can't drive, so if that is the case, then you may have 3 drivers.

Well, you can use up to 6 joysticks/wheels/pedals, so it's reasonable to assume it would take more than 1 person to control all that.

it is definately allowed, but unless you've got three people capable of mind-talking to each other while driving, and working together like one person or something, it is hard to do... normally people don't work together well enough in two min to make the robot good....

i think most teams have one person drive, one person take care of all the perty buttons and other controls, and one person to watch the game/coordinate with other teams... the person designated coach (or whatever the other guy is) could do the between alliance talking, so the third driver could take care of whatever
that way everyone does something, and no one can really mix up what the other guy is doing (in my not so humble opinion)

I just remembered that last year there was more than one person driving, so it's legal for sure.

We usually have three joysticks - two for driving and one for controlling and arm or whatever. Our driver works both of the drive joysticks, and our controller works the controlling joystick (bet you couldn't've guessed that one on your own! ;)) Our controller also mans "the box" that has the buttons for our other functions not covered by the three joysticks! Our human player usually acts like a second coach, counting balls (or bins, this year) for the coach - who is an adult mentor.
