Conversation Starters
 

I know some of you will refer me to the pick-up lines thread.

The difference between pick-up lines and conversation starters is that conversation starters are not created to be used to pick up a date, although they can be altered in some way to make them more efficient for that purpose.

Here are a couple conversation starters that I have used:

"Hey Jessie, can you help me screw this in?"

"You died your hair, Ian?"

Do any of you have some good ones? Or bad ones for that matter. :]

"Nice costume, Eddie."

"Did you buy your shoes like that?"

Hehe. I get that all the time.

(I used to have two pairs...since you can't just buy one shoe...but they got really stinky and nasty so my parents threw them out [without my consent...grr...]) I also have l33t flamey ones.

"What exactly does SPAM stand for?"

while sitting in a hot tub:
"Have any of you ever gone skinny dipping in a hot tub with more than 5 people?" (funny story)

Have you seen my donkey? I misplaced it around here...

(Just because I'm a goon I can say stupid things :p)

"Word to your mother" is always good.

so is offering string to them..i keep a spool in my trenchcoat for that very purpose..seriously..i do

I just ask them how old they think I am. Most say 22-23, than I tell them that I'm 17...Heh...gotta see the face they make when I tell them that..:D

I think the best one I've ever used was:
"Hey... you have feet!"

YEah... that was a winner.

how about the old fasioned "HI"

oh SPAM stands for "Stuff Posing As Meat" or was that the wrong spam

you know what. Today I'm doing such in such and I needed such and such.. :) being friendly and open always gets 'em

Don't let me go to the store alone. I'll come home with a bunch of stories about the interesting people i met :p

Here's some good ones.

never start a conversation by asking help in a simple math prob

"Excuse me, do you know wut 3 time 9 is?"

You smell TERRIFIC!

Just pick some obscure supermodel or famous person and say

Hey, you know, you look just like _____________

For example:

Hey, you know, you look just like Levi Strauss

Well, for me...

I just say that I was voted "Sexiest man in Melvindale" thanks to my football team and my number 69. All i can say is that when you are good, you're good! :yikes: :p :D

when I'm by myself I won't really approach anyone to talk but when I'm with my teammates then I'll just approach anyone and say something stupid, that usually gets a convo started.
For example, just walk around and randomly ask people if they have seen your state fair corn dog, and usually someone will start to talk to you.

last year i used these: "so, you're here for the robot competition huh?" or "so what does your robot do?"

i am seriously a really really shy guy. you wouldnt think it with the way i act sometimes, but i really am. so i could use all the help in the WORLD!:(

say interesting but useless facts like "camels dont blink as much as monkeys" or "i can run as fast as 3 cats tied together" those are always fun

those green ties went faster than the stuff we were giving out for some reason. they do make execlent hair ties and are very stylish.
one more good conversation starter is "your head smells like a puppy" - GIR from invader zim

WAAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZ UUUUUUUPPPPPP with the tongue sticking out and all...
yeah.. we are a very secluded country town..

no girls ussually talk to me, i usually get strange guys who try and start a topic of conversation...weird...

I am a open fella who lays things on the line, if i think u are a hot chick then i will be like "You are hot!" and so forth, but i never would judge anybody appearances in a negative manner, cause myself am not that great..
