Sparky 4.0 will be up soon enough.... :)

Our drive base is completed, although we still need to manufacture our servo shifter for the drill motors. The base was driveable yesterday, although the program had not been uploaded yet. Pics will be available as soon as I can take them/get approval from advisors.

Others have expressed concern at teams "stealing their ideas" or creating a robot specifically to counter their particularly advantageous feature. Neither falls into the realm of gracious professionalism. I'd love to see other teams inspired by designs we made. We've certainly been inspired by designs from the past. Throughout the design process we tossed out ideas we saw in the past. Like a ChiefDelphi-style front-wheel drive swerve with HOT-style omni wheels instead of swivel casters and Truck Town-style conveyor belt for traction (which was originally given to us by a team in Oklahoma whose team number I can no longer remember). These ideas are then fused with 'trademark' MI Roboworks design patterns like water-jet fabricated 1/4" aluminum plate with connecting stanchions, as well expanding to meet our facilities and skills such as the increase in GTAW on the frame. There is no ‘copying’, just ‘inspiration’. Another part of the fun of FIRST is seeing all the great machines people come up with. We're not attending EVERY regional, so the CD Forums are probably the only place someone who isn't going to GLR or the Championship Event will see our design. On that same note, we want to see others' robots as well. It's not like we're twisting anyone's arm. Or aren't offering our own pictures. We are proud of our machine and enjoy showing it off. That’s what the Robot Showcase is for, right? We want others to join in on the fun. Adam |

Team 384 has made a decisions (and I will agree to it), NO pictures of Sparky will be up. EVER. If you take them, then upload them, fine, but no pictures of Sparky will be up at all before the event at VCU.
Look for him there. |
