problems with our programmer

what would your team do if your one and only programmer decided to go act in a play or play in an orchestra rather than do FIRST?

Gadget470 30-01-2003 15:29

Well, from Alpha Omega 470 I'd say get to learning programming

Jeremy_Mc 30-01-2003 15:35

I can help someone learn if need be...

otherwise all I can say is read the manuals and practice practice practice...

if i were gone (i am the head programmer) i'd lag you guys.

JLambert 30-01-2003 16:48

Worst case scenario, you could just use the default code. And if there were any changes that had to be made, you could try to find a mentor or someone to help you make those neccasary changes.

Timinator 30-01-2003 18:10

Make a plea to the student body for " a god-like uber leet programmer" and your sure to get someone like me :)

Which will leave you right where you started, but at least you'll have tried something.... :)

HolyMasamune 30-01-2003 19:47

That's why it's a good idea to have more than one programmer who can back each other up if one decides to join orchestra or something.

rust710 30-01-2003 19:57

I say go disban you orchestra until he writes your code.

Other wise cut him a deal like write our code and we will help you with something or if that fails I could help with your code. PM if you want.

Our team would be destroyed.

If you plan on implementing a crazy, complicated code, you would want re reconsider. PBASIC is very, very easy to learn and there is tons of info online. Many teams even post their code and tutorials. You will be ok.

RoboCoder 30-01-2003 22:46

You can always contact me :D I'm always willing to help out other teams with coding.....as well as my own occasionally lol. Dont hesitate to contact me, I'd like to help if possible.......RobotCoder@yahoo.com, AIM: RobotCoder yahoo messenger: RobotCoder (sense a pattern?), or you can just PM me.........RoboCoder.....yeah.....get the theme yet? :p

On my team, we started out years ago with only a single coach who knew how to program. Then I joined the team. Freshman year, all I did was look over said coaches shoulder once or twice, but starting sophomore year, I did more and more of the programming. This year and last year, it was mostly mine (there are two other student programmers, both of whom were indespensible). But the thing is this: I'm good at coming up with wack ways of making things work (i.e. magic code), another of our 3 is very good at complex mathematical stuff, and the third is a jack of all trades. If one of us disappeared, we'd be shaken up, if two went, we'd be hurting, and if we all went, the team would be sunk :P But the're are plenty of people who could learn to write programs... it's very easy. Just takes a little bit of time... I bet less than 3 hours.
