Omg Turn On The News

There's a robot helping to negotiate with the guy who hijacked the postal truck!

It's live, right NOW, so go watch it!

Joe Matt 31-01-2003 14:25

To bad I'm at school and don't have CNN here....

unless I can get it over Quicktime...

Caleb Fulton 31-01-2003 14:30

It handed the suspect something in a bag with a 6-7 foot arm :)

Yeah...I'd bet it could stack bins fairly well :)

lol :D

It could also smash our robots and go flying up the ramp and then stay put.

But it's probably 200 lbs over the weight limmit (lets start swiss chessing it!) :yikes:

Mr. Ivey 31-01-2003 14:48

Yeah, that thing would be massive i bet. Probably is armor plated incase the suspect turns on it. So my guess is that it's at the very least 300 pounds, probably more around the 500 mark. I also wouldn't doubt that it has devensive mechanisms, incase the suspect turns on it. You don't really want some nut blasting apart a $500,000 robot, so you give it a big ole tazer, and probably some bean-bag cannons, to leave it's assaliant tender inside, and crunchy outside, kinda like the fried chicken you get at U'Krops.

CODE RED!

Thats what they blared over the PA today in school, basically means get outa the halls, turn the lights off, shut the windows and stay clear of the door. The whole truck thing was like 5 miles from our school so they had us in lock down or as they call it at our school Code Red. And the chase brought the truck right by my old elementary school, which is on 183rd street. I have no idea on what happend because we werent allowed to have a TV on!

We got that at our school thursday when a physics teacher brought a BB gun to school. That was right, jolly old fun...

Anyway, I just listened to the news a few minutes ago and they had said a motorist had thrown a cell phone in to the truck as opposed to a large robot. I was really hoping to see a robot with a 8 foot arm... Oh, well.

KaylaButt 01-02-2003 14:38

What happened?

With both situations?(BB gun wielding teacher, and crazy truck man).

Duke 13370 01-02-2003 14:48

Code Red

At our school one of the physics teachers has done a projectile motion lab for 20 years at the old school, (note: we have a campus-setup of sorts and have to walk between schools frequently. They are all rather close together) and as he did every year at this time, he brought his BB gun to school. One of the parents that dropped kids off in the morning spotted a strange man with a rifle entering the school. The swat team was called in and they went through the entire school looking for some crazed homicidal maniac, and called a school emergency. We locked the doors, and thirty seconds later they had found him.

It was rather odd.

ha. we're doing the civil war right now in AP US history, and our teacher brought in his musket and revolver replicas. haha, he got some funny looks from some of the freshman in the halls

Actually if my guess is correct the robot is probably a bomb disposal robot. I remeber on tv they showed one of those robots get shot to smithereens while trying to get the murder suspect out. It sure beats sending in a human though.

Our military history class was doing the same thing, only with out the musket. It was rather odd when the school paper came out that day, The headline was "History Class Goes to War". It had nothing to do with the physics BB gun, but it was rather odd.
