Please let us know what you think of our site. We're a rookie team based in southern New Hampshire. We're still uploading some files--still getting all the pages working and troubleshooting the chat--but please give us some feedback! --Petey |
No feedback for the wee ickle rookies?

that along with about 6 other posts in this forum in just a few hours, can i say spam?? (please don't :) ) anyway.. ya, i really like the overall design of your site. The nav bar is quite cool. (riveits (sp??)) the header on the forum might be a little tall though. (<rant>and, you really should use phpBB over invision board :] </rant> ) oh, on your sponsor list, the ones with a website, make all the text a link, not just the little circle on the right. oh, i'm sure you allready know this, but the designed by link, the to top link, and the copyright link don't work. Nice job! |

All of the graphics were done in photoshop. I've never used phpBB, but I love Invision Board--it's easy to customize, free, and has tons of great features. I've got...let's see...6 running now? phpBB will never take me alive! Those bottom links don't work because my friend, who did most of the design work on that site, just lost his webpage (www.dalescreative.com) when his year-by-year license expired  He's got a temp site up at www.voltechs.com, though. I had thought that all of the link text did work...hmmm...will change that. Thanks for the feedback! --Petey |
We updated our web design! Now you can do a shout out on the home page without any sort of special admin powers! Go us!

Looked good before, but it looks even better now.

Nice site...very pretty...but not dialup-friendly. It's 600kb. That's massive. Lets see...on my old 28.8kbps modem, I could download at 2kb/s. That would take 5 minutes to load the page...sorry...I wouldn't be waiting that long :) (Even on DSL, that page took a little while :)) Try compressing the images a bit more. Also, on Opera 6...your Shout-Out table looks a bit messed up. Possibly because of that input box?

Your speed issues connecting may have been because I've been asking all of my team members to register for our forum. I'll talk to the resident design god about compressing the images more, though. :) p.s. I think he fixed the shout out box. Let me know if it still plagues you. --Petey |
Looks great.
The Opera problem appears fixed. But still.. 600kb is a lot, it took about 25 seconds on a T1 line. (Which must mean that your server upload isn't the greatest). |

However, at our meeting tonight we started the process of setting up a dedicated Free BSD server box that will be hosted at a local ISP on a T3 line that connects directly to an OS9 optic fiber line. :D :D :D :D :D Oh yes...but for the meantime, we're working on compressing those pics. --Petey |

Yeah, you really should convert all those high quality .jpg(s) to GIFs. You probably used such a high quality setting to eliminate artifacts, but if you use a GIF with a good compressor, the change is quality will hardly be noticable, there will be no artifacts, and the file size will be cut by over 80%. A pointer: use even less colors for smaller images. You can probably get away with 16-32 colors for the buttons, and might want to keep the banner at 64-128 colors.

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
We're currently working on a few things 1. Compressing the images 2. Moving the page to a server with better bandwidth 3. Getting all the links working and the content up --Petey |

1. Petey is our content manager/publisher. 2. Volte (robin... me) is our graphics designer :D 3. Tim is our server management guru... (sp?) I want to wish every one good luck. There are some very nice sites out there, and I they are definitely going to give us a run for our money!... er... time. Working on the file sizes when I get home... but I might sleep first, stayed up till 2 the night before last... morning. Whatever, and stayed up till 12 last night. Yes, working on the site. Can anyone relate? |
