There may be slight differences, e.g. food, music (if any music at all), atmosphere, etc. since the announced financial situations FIRST mentioned in relation to certain regionals. My guess is the "parties" are the complete deal, where sponsors are willing to put forth a little more, whereas "socials" are the more streamlined events, parhaps lacking a few things.
