Any bashing?
Does not evil deserve bashing? Or are we incapable of admitting evil exists?
I do agree that this forum is probably not the best place for bashing, but I dont agree any bashing is inappropriate. |

Re: I agree
Mr. Rush,
With all due respect, I believe that a thread bashing anything or anyone is inappropriate - especially here on the Chief Delphi forums. As Mr. Ross stated, "reasonable criticism and debate is always appropriate" - in threads in which debate is the intent. This thread is about the possibility of a school district not allowing their students to travel to the US in the event of war. With that said, let's get back on topic. - Katie |
My apologies. I just couldn't let up an opportunity as easy as that.
:p |
It's stack attack, not bash attash
It's not about bashing. It's about focus .
It's not polite to go into a thread about rotating lights and say "Hey! Anybody want to talk about Quetzacoatl?!" You see? |
a clarification on a clarification
heh if that's at all possible, i'll clarify, Dave is asking a different question from the one i'm asking.
We were wondering if the Meeting Company would refund, as would Continential under war time. NOT just the 5000 fee. But in any case, the answer turned out to be the same for all, in the event of a war, the 5g fee, hotel accomodations, tickets, etc. are all non-refundable. With the way things are going now, it doesn't look like we have much choice but to cancel our trip to Houston. Which leads to my next question... How many Canadian teams are going to or have already paid all the fees (including hotel, tickets and entry)? |
whats with all the bashing of bashing....:D :D << had to be said
but really, i dont know if everyone understands the full extent of saddam's power and brutality....the man totures and kills his own people, he gases entire villages, amputates legs and arms of citizens, performs experimentation on humans(and tortures the doctors who refuse to do it). i dont mean to preach or anything but sadam hussein is the epitome of evil and i believe most of americans do not understand the full wrath of this man(me being one of them: i just started reading us state department documents that have shocked me) i agree with mr. rush that this might not be the place but "bashing" saddam is in my mind no way inappropriate as long as it doesnt get out of hand in addition: here are some sites(U.S. State Department) on this madman: kurdistan.org/Current-Updates/iraq.html usinfo.state.gov/regional/nea/iraq/iraq99e.htm |

As for going to the US even if there is a war with Iraq, that doesn't really concern me. I expect highten security, but I doubt flights from Canada will be stopped (think of business people, etc who fly from the US to Canada and vice versa all the time.). I'm worried about my trip to Europe (cause my flight on the way there goes thru Detroit....) |
really? your school board will let u go to houston even if there's dangers of terrorism in the states? what if something happens? it'd be lawsuit after lawsuit against the school for letting you go.
as for the saddam bashing thing, i don't support him one bit but i don't think it's okay to get tunnel-vision. The guy doesn't deserve bashing any more than Hitler does here. You can say he is the epitome of evil if you want after reading US reports, but u have to keep in mind that they are government reports on an enemy everyone is supposed to hate. I'd stick to the idea that he's insane. Anyway, that's all i have to say on the subject here, if anybody would like to talk about Hussein, there are a ton of message boards devoted to him on the net, yet there's only one devoted to how many teams are allowed to go to the championship event during war time. So... How many? |
This Just in...
Direct from the FIRST website:
FIRST has begun to receive questions about plans for the regional events and Houston championship should an act of war or terrorism occur in the next months. We are concerned for the safety and security of citizens facing these threats anywhere in the world, and, in particular, for all men and women in the military. While we recognize the impact these acts would have, we also understand the best course of action at this time is to continue to move forward with the existing plans. Therefore, FIRST is continuing to follow those plans and do all that is necessary to deliver superb regional and championship events for all the teams. We are not considering cancellations, extensions, or refunds. We do recognize the right and responsibility of each individual to judge how best to proceed. In the meantime, we'll continue to work toward a great season of Regional events and the Championship. |
