FotoPlasma 06-02-2003 21:04

Heh. I don't know if I have any lucky numbers, but that doesn't mean 3 isn't mine.

And yes, May 3rd is the best birthday... ever (1985 is even cooler).

Ashes 18-02-2003 23:15

No lucky number?

Well becuase of that then I am letting you use the number 3 as your lucky number! It has brought me lots of luck! lol

Harrison 18-02-2003 23:46

my lucky number is 6 (i have no idea why - so dont ask).....but ummm, 6 is 2 times 3...lol

That was subtle.

Gope 19-02-2003 00:27

Subtle, but true.

And, hey, she is hot.

sevisehda 19-02-2003 00:51

I don't know how far our birthdays are apart. I just want a custom title.

"How you doin?"

Well.....I suppose I can't really argue that......BUT....

Look at what we're doing (refer to the lame pick-up-lines thread in Chit-Chat)...we are finding something small and pointless to talk about!

so ummm......hows the snow? lol :P

Well, heres the thing...we are kinda goin...we are planning on taking part of the team up on Friday and Sat to cheer for everyone.:yikes:

Ashes 20-02-2003 23:14

HEY IT"S ME!

Hey everyone, well I knwo for me it will be easier if you could say what you first name is and then tell me something short about yourself. I might not always be good with names but I usually never forget information about someone. But I'm trying my best to keep up with some things you all are saying!

Harrison: Wow was this snow a blessing to our team. We were in the school for 5 days straight for just first! Our team really have tiem to bond since it is only like 15 peopel big...and sad to say the girls are actually out numbered....we use to haev more girls than guys. But this year there are only 5 girls! Also, the snow was a problem because I have a pick up that is rear wheel drive...and it got stuck so many times getting home one night...so I jsut left it outside and it is kidna stuck there till I get the energy to shovel it all out! lol Like I ever will haev the energy!

Joe Ross, TO answer your question about why we are goign to Pitts and Grandrapids...instead of the one that is closest (Cleveland) This is becuase then we can go up and watch the games occur. Cheer on many different teams and have fun jsut running around. With being a small team we don't haev much tiem to jsut run aroudn and meet people. This year we are on our own with only our teacher (Sue Godez) That is our adult. We have to know every little bit about hta robot so if something gose wrong who ever is there can work on it....and with out the help of an Engineer. Last year the Robo Dawgs where great and helped us out ALOT! There was also 33 and 27 that helped out team. But it will be fun to go to cleveland and jsut cheer and meet people!

sevisehda, I'm doing good sicne you asked a while ago. Things are not so great here at home and I'm thankful to have had First to keep me away from my house! lol But It is nice to go to school and check this web site and have a few post that are personal to me to reply to! SO thanks for asking and how are you doing? Happy to haev the robot shipped?

I know exactly what you mean. ask anyone who's tried to find me at a competition that my team is competing in ;)

which pretty much means, I won't be able to pass on Jim's lame pickup lines, unless you really, really want to hear them :p

Be sure to cheer all 6 rochester teams too! :D

jzampier 20-02-2003 23:58

Females....

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine. She was commenting that everytime she walked by the CS labs, any heads poking over the computers would follow her down the hall. .... one major plus of FIRST. Convincing the opposite gender to come to tech schools so the guys aren't quite so lame.... :)

The snow definately helped us as well.....we kinda were done and ready to go on Tuesday, but now the bot is actually done (minus a part that a Jr broke on it about 5 mins b4 the FedEx truck arrived) and working. And, the auto-mode code we have in now doesn't drive the bot through the walls (as an ealier version of the program did...lol). Robot 1 Drywall 0

But, the bots done and shipped, and looks good.

http://www.mobotics.ca for pics and other info (shamless advertising).

As for cars being stuck.....yeah that happens.....we did a little video of my car being stuck in the snow, and then us getting it unstuck (mines front-wheel drive too)....and then theres our programmer who drives a big GMC Safari van...that things a pain to push when it gets stuck (and it IS rear-wheel-drive).

Competitions: Great Lakes, Canadian, and Nationals.

My truck is a four wheel driver but I don't see much snow in Cali anyway. Once got a 2WD stuck in sand. All you have to do is get like 8 or ten of your friends to stand on the back bumper (or in the bed) and you'll have all the traction you need. I know what it's like though with a truck. I even break traction with mine on pavement every time I reverse up a hill or accellerate a little too fast around a corner.

Mind sharing what kind of truck you have? Mine is a 99 Ranger.

sevisehda 21-02-2003 02:14

Bah, you guys most be snow amateurs if you complaing about the flurry the eastcoast had last weekend. Come to Oswego, NY and see some real snow. I think we've had like 150+ inches so far this year.

Ashes 21-02-2003 11:00

Well our twon never gets snow! When we get lik 3 inches it is ALOT of us! So when we have mounds of sow everywhere I have no clue what to do.

My truck is a Mazda 3000, It is a 5 speed! lol I love driveing stick in my pickup. I use to have a silver Mazda 4000, but my sister crashed it!!! But I love my new bby more! Her/His name is Max...becuase HE/she is small but a powerful beast! lol

Biggs717 21-02-2003 11:30

I LOVE YOU!

Hey girl! whats up? I can't believe how fast that six weeks went by! its amazing! But we had fun...don't forget about Nelly the Neon...(thats my car! haha) Oh the times we've had! You're the best friend anyone could ever ask for and I seriously have no idea what I'm going to do next year when we're apart...definitly gonna have a huge phone bill! o well...thanks for always being there for me when I needed you to be...we work well together! and I'll definitly need you there for me at regionals cause I'll be a nervous wreck! o well....and I think I am going to the buckeye regional too! o the fun times we'll have! I'll also say hey to everyone else who's been posting on here..isn't ash the coolest! Well girl I'll keep postin on here! the countdown to FUN is on!

Joe Matt 21-02-2003 11:35

I'd wear a mask so the guys at the regionals won't keep bothering you about them asking you for a date after the pits close. ;) But you'll get used to it.

But my Birthday is Sep 2nd.

Harrison 21-02-2003 15:55

sevisehda...I'm Canadian...need I say more about snow? lol

Actually, in all honesty, we havn't gotten much at all this year (in total since like December < 6 feet [we've had a couple "melts" already]).

And now, it was like 6 degrees today (40 something F I think)...so all the snow is going away. I must say...I could go for some shorts and t-shirt weather right about now....

As for Cars...I can't dis mazda's....nice cars (cept the MPV is an ugly van if I ever saw one)...the new Mazda 6's are sexy little things.

I'm a toyota man myself tho....ive got a lexus es300, and my parents drive the toyota sienna xle (which I borrow for canoe trips in the summer...).

http://www.mobotics.ca/gfx/harrison_car.jpg
http://www.mobotics.ca/gfx/harrison_van_canoe.jpg

They're both auto-tranny's.....ah well, still fun

and Neon's...lol, my best friend has a neon....i bug him so much for it :) (im not a fan of american cars...)

Argh........almost a month till the GLR....i won't survive!

WernerNYK 21-02-2003 16:46

Hmmm....

But being from WPI, I can understand what is going on here. (4:1 male:female ratio, yuck).

But that's why we need girls like you to come here. Our FIRST team actually does a lot of outreach to females.. more than the rest of the entire university does, it's quite impressive. I think that we need to do more outreach in Ohio though

Ashes 21-02-2003 18:01

Yea i know my Mazda isent the best. But I love it for being a pick up! Today we saw an F-150, that these cowboys had jacked up! It was all black and sweet!!! I Feel IN LOVE. EVen though the guy sitting in the seat was not hot i coudl stop looking at him because the truck was jsut THAT sweet! Anyone else love trucks like me? I'm a real 4 by 4 kinda girl...I can't wait to get one for myself!

Harrison 21-02-2003 18:15

I'd take an SUV over a pick-up most days....

Acura MDX is decent (a little under powered tho).
Toyota Highlanders are decent.
Lexus RX 300 is good.
Lexus LX 470 is sooooo sexy.
and Lexus just came out with a new RX 470...omg that is a nice truck.

But, some pick-ups are nice...such as ur Mazda :P

Toyota Tundra's a good.
The F-150 (or 350) are both cool
and despite the fact that I hate Chrysler, the Dodge trucks are nice.

.......but ill take a sports car any day :P

Thats the Lexus GS 300....I want it....

Ashes 21-02-2003 18:18

Well see I like cars but since i have been driving trucks and big things. Cars are nice to drive in! Even long drives to OHIO! lol Yea it woudl be cool if we got to Nats...but I'm nto sure that will be happening!

Harrison 21-02-2003 18:23

Well I'm driving to Michigan for the GLR...but I'm taking my parents van for that...I need to seat a bunch of people, the sports car technically can seat 5, but well, lets just say the people in the back need to be skinny and have short legs...lol

maybe a side-trip to columbus on the way back home (we'll ignor that Ohio and Toronto are in opposite directions)

BTW: Go Leafs Go! (hockey)

sanddrag 21-02-2003 21:47

For Ashes and all those truck fans out there...
(too bad it's not mine)

Ashes 22-02-2003 01:05

OH GOSH!!

I'm trying to be a good girl and not say bad words! lol THAT IS SWEET! Wow i love trucks!! I wish i had money and i would go out and get one of those and pimp it out! ...I wil haev to take a pic for everyone....mine is a lil thing compared to that! but the right side is busted up becuase i hit a guy...I should put the pic of his car too! lol I Messed his side up! and only bent in the side corner of my truck

Have you had some car problems?

Harrison 22-02-2003 01:51

my worst car problems have consisted of my car encountering snow-banks in 360's gone bad in the snow.

....and based on what those two trucks r doing, I hope they're wearing protection......

Ashes 22-02-2003 01:57

SO you are what i call the Gutter brains!! lol, just messing with you. I had to kinda slant my head to the side on that one too! lol!

sevisehda 22-02-2003 04:06

A guy I worked with lowered his truck and had a bumper sticker that said "Girls like it when you go down". Cars don't normally fair well in the snow cause there to light and have little ground clearance. So I prefer I nice truck, but my real dream ride is a MailTruck. Those things never get stuck in the snow.

edomus 22-02-2003 10:26

yea, driving a mail truck would be cool, but not as cool as driving my audi A6:)

by the way: may 3 b-day

Ashes 22-02-2003 13:46

sevisehda, your friend had the right idea! But yea ther are alot of nice cars outt here...I wish I had about 20 cars/trucks and SUV's beucase then whenI went out, I woudl haev at least one that could get through theweather! lol If it is nice out you wanna put a top down...muddy, those times it is nice to haev a truck...you know what I mean! lol

Mimi Brown 22-02-2003 14:49

dude...that truck is tizzight. Ash, our babies just dont compare.

sanddrag 22-02-2003 17:53

www.postaljeep.com What an awesome vehicle. And if you paint it right, you can park anywhere you want and not get a ticket. Too bad the government is destroying them.

Biggs717 23-02-2003 13:29

I'd also take an SUV over a truck any day! Although I love drivin around with ash in her truck...we usually do the longer drives in my neon..I know its not the best but we have fun in it don't we girls? But this summer I get to use my dad's jeep so that will be fun! And yea that truck is so tight! I love it! Ash was right the black truck we saw the other day was amazing...when I was pumping the gas, the guy in the passenger seat was singing to me! haha it was funny!

Brandon Martus 23-02-2003 16:50
